We had the good fortune of connecting with Darice Mangin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darice, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I created Desert Valley House Concerts to help create awareness and help up and coming artists create a fan base. Who knew it would be even more beneficial in 2020 & 2021 when touring all but ceased. The arts are an important and integral part of our communities and we help artists on tour not only gain new fans, but save much needed funds by not having to get a hotel and fast food while they’re out on the road. Songwriters and artists need their voices heard through their creativity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began hosting house concerts initially in Iowa where I lived for 22 years. I’m an Arizona native, so when I decided to come back home, I knew I needed to continue to host artists and help spread the joy they bring to my new community. Touring artists have a place to stay, do laundry, get a home cooked meal and share their music in an intimate setting to truly express their creativity while out on the road playing larger shows. I don’t advertise, I’m not for profit, so all of our artists are word of mouth and shows are as well although I have built a web page and social media platforms.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In addition to a show here at Desert Valley House Concerts, I love taking guests to Agritopia in Mesa and Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix.

All of the artists who continue to write and create deserve a huge shout out!
