We had the good fortune of connecting with DeAndra Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeAndra, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Well first, my band Outside The Line, we play for a lot of resorts, retirement communities and of course your local bar and grills… I have heard on numerous occasions how we bring joy to them, we take them down memory lane, they just want to dance and stay youthful while listening and dancing to our music. It’s the joy and smiles on their faces that makes it worth it. And then there’s my Tina Turner tribute show. Well the world suffered a great loss when she passed away, so when I bring her energy, her electricity and her fire to the stage.. we still have a piece of Tina Turner’s legacy in our lives. I love to execute my Tina Turner act on stage and I love when people watch it and enjoy it

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am apart of one of the busiest and hard working bands that Arizona has seen. I mainly think it’s because we play some of the best songs out there and we like to put on a show while doing it. We try to reach every crowd we play for. If we are playing for an older crowd, we’re going to give you some older tunes that we know you know. If it’s a younger crowd, we will adapt to what they want to hear to make sure everyone have a good time. I am very proud of my Tina Turner tribute show. It started while she was still alive, so I’m very happy about that. It takes a lot of dedication and endless hours of practicing to make sure I’m going to give the people a wonderful and well thought out Tina Turner show. When I hear things like, you sound just like her or the way you move, it looks just like her.. it just brings joy to my heart. But this line of business is not an easy thing to do. I am also a full time mother and I work a full time job. So balancing life is super big for me. I have to maintain a very strict schedule and I have to keep my children on it as well. It helps us all to spend family time together and also fulfill our own personal goals in life. I basically want the world to know that being a wife, full time mother, working a full time job, being faithful to my church ministry and spending most of my nights on stage Is a very busy life, but it’s so rewarding and very doable. Don’t get me wrong… I have many sleepless nights and I’m exhausted all the time, but God gives me the strength to keep moving forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lots of exciting places to take friends to visit. A lot of them are places that I play at. We would have drinks at Murphy’s Law and Kimmyz at Tatum Point. We would go have a great time at The Monastery and Dillion’s Bayou. We’d go dine at Maple & Ash and Fleming’s Steakhouse. And for exciting and talented people… there is no place better than my home church.. The Fountain of Life House of Worship. This place sustains me. It gives me love, peace and reassurance of who I am in this day to day walk in life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, my husband Shaun Johnson and Outside The Line Band
