We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Nerey – Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree, how does your business help the community?

My business helps the community & the world by offering my platform. I have the opportunity to share an artist’s music with the world. If their Music submissions  fit the program, they will be aired to my worldwide Online Radio Show (One Solid Vibe) on Souldiesradio.com on Fridays 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. I go live at 7:30 PM –  PST

It’s at no cash value expense right now.
I only ask for the artist to call in or send me an audio recording of their intro before their song plays. That consists of their name, where they are from and a shout out to their loved ones if they’d like. Concluding it with  a shout out to the One Solid Vibe Radio show.

It keeps the artist encouraged and it’s a way for the artist’s family, friends, and fans to support them as far as calling in and requesting their song at no cost. They can listen at the same time even with different time zones. That number is 775-583-8688

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Aww thank you! My show is the only Radio show in my city that I know of that plays Reggae, Rap, Hyphy music, Local and Non Local Artist’s and it works. It being online it doesn’t need to be censored and I promote only 18 and up due to non censored language. I want and hope that my platform is able to reach all different backgrounds.  If you tune in you’re guaranteed to hear a song you haven’t heard before.
One solid vibe is an upcoming clothing brand as well and it stands for
One Life One Love – Remain Solid and good vibes.
So we’re all on One Solid Vibe.

To get to where I am today I had to do an internship for 6 months for Souldies Radio on SouldiesRadio.com in 2016. I got to do the hour lunch show for two months, then for four months I got to do the afternoon show for two to three hours and a lot of other things that go with the job.

After 6 months of practicing I got to pitch my own show idea to the online Radio station manager which is my father. I absolutely received no handouts and my Father didn’t take it easy on me because I’m his daughter; he kept it real at all times. He wasn’t sold but I had to show him and I did just that.
I not only showed him I surprised him. The show Went through a trial run and got approved long term by the manager & higher bosses for every Friday 6 PM to 10 PM. PST. I got artists on the show every Friday with the help of my teammate, now my husband.

I had to build up my confidence to get out there and make it happen. What I was envisioning I knew I could make a reality. I had to push my anxiety and doubts to the side, prove to everyone I’m not afraid and I don’t quit.

Huge shout out to Eli, our electrician and PC repair technician. Thank you for everything you do!

One of the biggest challenges I faced so far was losing my show at my peak due to the facility building closing. I felt something in my gut that it was going to take off and it just was gone like that. For about 5 years I felt stuck, Covid came and me standing in my own way didn’t help. I have used this disadvantage and made it to my advantage to be humbled and work on being better regardless of circumstances. It builds character and resilience. You say to yourself,  “If you’re great you’ll leave and come back like you never left.” “Can you come back a second time?” We will have to see. I’ve been at it for a year now and I’ve loved it, challenges and all. It doesn’t feel like work when I’m playing music and behind the mic.

I believe in opportunity, not everyone gets recognized if they are not popular.
I believe everyone should have a chance or to have the time to be heard, especially being a female. Sometimes we get side eyes or get uninterested looks or ears that don’t want to hear what we have going on or even listen to what we have to say.

I am proud to be different and not be out for myself. A little change in the world starts with ourselves to make it a better place. Kindness and respect goes a long way but in the music industry it’s not that all the time.
It’s free to give a shout out, a share or even a like and a follow yet the world doesn’t give it freely or always support upcoming entrepreneurs. I myself can support others and I do because I know how it feels. Thank you guys for doing what you do as well and getting upcoming businesses a chance to get out there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It really is The Biggest Little City in The World. I would take them to see the bars and casinos downtown and have them check out our MidTown area.
There are a lot of great food spots and bars. The culture and adversity has really grown out here in Reno, NV.
Our college is growing so much it’s truly turning into a college town as they say.
You can hang out at the Grand Sierra resort for food, pool, arcade, movies and bowling.
If you have kids, another great spot is wWild Island.
You have to check out The Outlets at Legends.
It’s an outdoor mall.
I really encourage getting on yelp if you’re looking for great food options. There are so many new spots.
If you want Mexican food the taco trucks on Oddie on the weekends are great!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Recognition to my Father Roberto Nerey for believing in me and pushing me to be my best. Thank you for the training and encouraging words and tough love and for
putting me in uncomfortable positions in order for me to grow. You’ve always seen my potential. I’m not one to be in your shadow but thank you for allowing me to be next to you as an equal. Because of you I have my show sponsored and I thank you for believing that I could shine if I put my mind and work ethic to it.  I love you and your support, & support on my show always.

Huge shout out to my Husband, thank you for your support, teamwork, pushing me to go hard and your encouragement.
Thank you for representing One Solid Vibe everywhere you go and for always hyping me up. My biggest fan and thank you for all the footwork you do for the show.
I love you.

My Mother, Grandma, and my Daughter. You push me to keep going.
Your words give me approval and mean more to me than any jewel.
Thank you for your support and feedback and for all the help while I put in the long hours. I love you sooo much!
My daughter, you are my world.

My brothers & Tony.
Thank you for your support and telling me I sound good on the airwaves and play great music. I love your involvement and will always have time to listen to your ideas. Thank you for being there and keeping me humble! Love you guys.
