We had the good fortune of connecting with Devoney Kelash and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devoney, can you talk to us about the impact the Covid-19 Crisis has had on your business.
My business has been very busy as a result of the pandemic. I am very thankful we have been a resource to so many for groceries and errands during this time of uncertainty. We have been able to help many seniors and immune compromised individuals get the supplies they need. We were very fortunate to be an essential service during the stay at home orders. The way we do our shopping and move around in our community had changed due to Covid-19. It has definitely changed the stores and our contact with clients. We implemented no contact deliveries and practiced CDC protocols. Many new clients would find themselves worrying how to get the items and food they need; or have a loved one who doesn’t drive anymore. Sure, some stores have created a curbside service to pick up groceries, but that still doesn’t help everyone. Grocers have also set aside special hours for seniors to shop. This might be fine for some, but not those who are immune comprised or have respiratory illnesses. It is more important to stay safely in home than to take a risk of exposure by heading to the store or pharmacy. There are many people who are afraid to leave their homes for groceries and essentials and didn’t know where to turn. My Errand Ally was the trusted resource to help in their time of need. We always love helping people in the community and were thankful to be the resource before, during, and of course after the Covid-19 crisis passes.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Errand Ally is a local personal concierge business that began in 2016. It started out with only me running errands, and now has a service area which has grown to cover Maricopa County and Tucson as well. In addtion to errands we also offer courier service, wait service and vacation services. Delegate to us and make your life easier! I always have had a passion for helping others. My business idea has been able to be the affordable errand service and time saver for many business professionals and seniors in the community. The My Errand Ally team is a group of women who truly have a passion for helping others. I am really proud of our team! We are happy to help those who need a helping hand or more time in their day! When you love what you do—it doesn’t feel like work!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I really enjoy supporting local. I would be sure to dine in local restaurants based on the cuisine they were craving for each meal! We have a wonderful variety of art and music venues to check out too. In addition maybe check out one of the sports arenas if that was of interest, With summer fast approaching definitely hanging out at the pool, or talking a walk at a local park. Veterans Oasis Park is one of my favorites. The Phx Zoo and Botanical Gardens are always fun to show out of towners. OR if the heat was too much we could always go North and see all that there is to dine and see in Sedona or Prescott too! Bearizona is my favorite place up North to bring visitors.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am extremely thankful for the support of my family and close friends during the last 4.5 years as a business owner. Equally important to the success and organic growth of my business has also been the community support of other local businesses and business professionals I have met during my business owner journey! Being a business owner can be a wild ride, and I could not have done it without all the wonderful people in my personal and professional life!
