We had the good fortune of connecting with Diyah Rahmawati and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diyah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
There’s always a risk in every decision. They are an inseparable package. When we decide to take an opportunity in life or business, there must also be risks that will arise. We cannot avoid risk. Because risk is a challenge that must be faced, must be resolved until we become a winner. So, our job is to manage it to get the lower risk.
In my life, there was a situation where I took the risk of having a natural childbirth with risking life. I decided to give birth in a midwife with a gentle birth method. In my first childbirth, I had eclampsia for up to 5 days in a coma. The doctor advised me not to get pregnant again, because the risk was very high for my health and safety if this eclampsia happened again later.
But finally I decided to do therapy by consuming organic and I do the organic cultivate on my own garden in front of my house. After 3 years consuming organic vegetables in smoothies every day, I recovered from the eclampsia. I’m very sure, organic is a natural medicine for our body. It will repair from within the body. As a result, we become healthy, rarely get sick, and have a positive mindset.
In the third year after the eclampsia, I got pregnant again and the doctor was so worried so he didn’t dare to handle me during the natural childbirth process. Because I felt my condition and the baby were fine, I decided to natural childbirth in a midwife. And finally, me and my baby were fine. I did the best I could. This is my belief about how organic vegetable works. And my experience became the reason for the establishment of my current business. A business that we built to help mothers to take care of themselves and their families’ health. For a better quality of health, quality of life
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is engaged in agriculture, especially organic farming. The business that I built has 4 main activities, namely: 1. Educate, foster and assist farmers to grow vegetables organically. This activity is our effort to organic cultivation patterns in order to maintain the balance of nature and protect the environment from damage due to the use of synthetic chemicals for the health of the earth in the long term. In this activity, I invite farmers to maintain the quality of production always has value. Not only from planting, but also to maintain the quality of the harvest, produce sustainably, and continue to grow.
2. Helping housewives to get organic food easily and at affordable prices. This activity is our dedication to keep mothers healthy. Both herself and her family. An easy ordering process, will make consumers excited to place an order. They no longer need to leave the house to shop, but just contact our admin to see the harvest and place an order. Furthermore, we will send their orders immediately, to their house.
3. Producing other healthy items.
The business that we have built continues to grow, we try to complete the various consumer needs for healthy food that is complete while still promoting healthy organic values. Some other products, for example, plant based snacks to invite children to enjoy organic vegetables in a comfortable and delicious way. In addition, we make beautiful colorful organic tempeh by combining savory organic local Indonesian soybeans with colorful organic vegetables as natural dyes.
4. Educate the youth generation to enter the world of agriculture.
We invite young people to participate in the agricultural business. We have Agricultural training Institute as a fun learning tool. In addition to caring for them in class, we also assist them in field practice, learn about how to plant, harvest, and learn to deliver products to consumers while maintaining the organic value of the organic products sent. We are very open to student internships, research or study visits, both personal and community. Starting from kindergarten to students. We hope that we can influence them to become part of advanced, independent and modern agriculture in Indonesia. And changing the face of agriculture, which was once gloomy because of the abandonment of its young generation, into the most sought-after, sought-after and most potential business field to be developed all the time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Malang City, Indonesia. There are so many natural appearances such as mountain, beach, where we can enjoy the beauty of nature without any barriers. It only takes 30 minutes to 1 hour we can enjoy the beauty of the nature. Of course this is the right place for healing. There are also spots where you can build closeness with friends or family, such as a cozy coffee shop or café with nature theme. We can enjoy the beauty of nature while drinking coffee or tea with friends or family
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I realized, in the process of passing life’s problem, of course I didn’t go through this alone. Family, friends, good neighbors, are the strength to faced the complication. I want to thank all of them who have supported me to get through this. Eclampsia is the second leading cause of death in pregnant women in the world. For those who had eclampsia, there will be the worries about getting pregnant again, because this is a frightening threat.
The business that I do is my effort to protect women from the potential for eclampsia that is very likely to occur. I want to help maintain women’s health, both mentally and physically, to stay healthy by providing organic food that is easy to obtain, starting from easy ordering, affordable prices, and service to their homes.
