We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Butcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Happiness for me is getting to photograph the real moments in life. The stages you don’t ever want to forget about. One day you’re going to look back on your life and wish you had the memories in photo form to show the next generation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Destination Elopement and Couple’s Photographer currently based in Virginia. What sets me apart the most I want to say is my personality and how I connect with my clients. My approach is to capture real and authentic emotions by creating a relaxed space that allows you to feel comfortable by being yourself.

I am so so excited for the upcoming year to get to capture so many new couple’s stories and sharing my art with everyone who supports and encourages me.

Nothing ever worth something is easy. I worked HARD for my business and where it is today. I had days where I thought I would never make this happen for myself. Days I felt disappointed in my work. But none of that comes close the the high’s. The day’s where I come home SO EXCITED to edit because I outdid myself in a session. Days I get to push my creativity to new limits. I have learned so much along my journey but one that really has stuck with me is to always believe and focus on yourself. Don’t worry about what the next Photographer is doing.

Never give up – my friend.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
oooo – this is a fun one!

Virginia is so much fun with so many things to do. The beach is a definite must see. Get some sand in your toes and then grab a drink at Brown Chicken Brown Cow in Hampton, VA. One of my absolute favorite places to eat. Ending the day with some Whale Watching over in Virginia Beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m going to dedicate this to myself because I helped myself throughout my entire journey. I put in the hard work and made it happen. If I can do it – so can you!
