We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Torsten Stein DC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Torsten, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Berlin, Germany. West Berlin that is. For anyone who doesn’t know, there was a wall built around my city. And even though I was on the right side of the wall, the free side, I saw it every single day. In Germany I missed schooling that encouraged me to start my own business. That’s why I was so intrigued in doing just that: starting my own chiropractic office with my awesome wife Claudia who basically runs my office.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being 7’2” my first career was to play basketball. That enabled me to come over from Germany and play college basketball (FDU Teaneck 1985-89) and later professional basketball in Germany. Lower back problems slowed me down and after many unsuccessful searches for a solution for my back pain, I stumbled onto chiropractic. I loved and still love the idea of correcting problem and not just treating symptoms.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would probably take him to Sedona to show him the beauty of the red rocks. A couple of little hikes and a nice coffee on the way out of town would be great. Cave creek would be another spot to watch some bull riding. The buffalo chip saloon. All my friends love working out, so I would actually take them to Undergroundfitness across from my office on 59th Ave for a nice personal training session with Jon. My favorite Mexican food place is Popo’s on 59th Ave and Bell road.
