We had the good fortune of connecting with Dun’te Marshall-Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dun’te, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by the natural things that occur in life at times. I appreciate the smallest things when it comes down to it. Sounds funny but i could find inspiration from a babbling bumb on the corner to a baby learning his first steps.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a Hip-Hop artist who evolved his talents into occupations. The thing about being an artist and making a full-time living off of it is you have to treat it like an actual occupation. I start my days early and end my nights late. I constantly network with other creatives and business entities on the daily and make sure my brand is very visible and introduced to new people constantly. I learned that you cant sell a product if no one knows you have a product. So marketing myself led me to a lot of different ventures. I’m not only doing music but i just launched my own company called Crown Customs which specializes in customizing and creating brands for other companies. I also launched two clothing companies recently called Dope Dutchess which is a female line and TAY which is named after me and also is a acronym for tomorrow and yesterday meaning it will be here forever.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im.from.a small town so there isn’t a whole lot to do but definitely when its spring time we can go enjoy a baseball game at William H. Parker stadium which is name after my older cousin Billy Parker. He is considered our hometown hero. We have a variety of food places we could go eat at. We could go feast on the best HotWings around at “ATL Wings”. If you love mexican food “Rio Mirage” is the way to go. But like i said its a small country town and the way we really do it is fire up the grill invite a few family and friends over and have a great time. We kinda old fashion at heart .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
i definitely would like to give a shot out to all my team members from my Toast Tada Gifted (TTG) team for always holding me down whether its through merchandising, promotions, performances they are always there to help me bring my artistic visions to life and I’m always here to return the love as well. None of this would be possible without the handwork of each individual from our camp and because of it our dreams of being successful are coming to life. I would also like to thank the artist who came before me and don’t mind giving me advice where they see it fits. I always look towards the Og’s out here and i study and learn blueprints of what worked for them and actually i gain inspiration from many of my peers out here moving independently now in the present and solely making a living off of their art forms.
