We had the good fortune of connecting with Eden Skory and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eden, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I am a quote kind of person for sure! No matter the situation, I always find myself endlessly scrolling through quotes that I feel resonate with how I’m feeling or how I want to feel. One of my favorite quotes that has stuck with me is: “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell I think this pretty much sums up what I think it takes to be successful. You have to understand that success from anything doesn’t come overnight. A lot of times, I think people like the idea of success more than they like the effort it takes to be successful. It’s always a learning process and I am always learning from my mistakes or failure! As long as you love what you’re doing, though, you’ll figure it out, and it will be so worth it in the end.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Along with my three siblings, I co-run TheSkorys, a YouTube channel that focuses on tween/teen content featuring adventures with elements of mystery. We’ve branched off into product development and other channels underneath TheSkorys. I’ve also expanded on my brand “Eden Skory” which is geared more toward teen girls who enjoy fashion and lifestyle. Running your own business for sure comes with some ups and downs! We have been at this for 8 years now yet we’re still learning every day. What’s fun about our content is that no video ever really feels the same. We’re always following a new storyline and going on crazy adventures where we maybe rent a mansion to film in or we go indoor skydiving or even film out-of-state at fun locations. Every day is truly a different adventure! It takes a lot of work, and I think people underestimate the time and effort it takes. As I mentioned, we’ve been at this for over 8 years, so when we first started I was only 11. My older brother headed up almost everything until my siblings and I got older. So one challenge was learning to do some of those tasks that he did that were now passed along to me as my responsibly. I had to learn things like editing, brainstorming, product development, and so much more. Sometimes another challenge is writer’s block. It takes a lot of creativity and group brainstorms to make sure our storylines stay interesting and keep the attention of viewers! Sometimes we’ll have a great idea that we love and then proceed with it only to find out that it completely flops and we have to go back to the drawing board. It’s amazing having a team of four around because we can always rely on each other during tough times to help get out of our funk or whatever problem we’re in. I think some things we’re excited about are some upcoming video ideas that have been in the works for a while! We can’t give too much away because they are not out yet but we have a very cool and unique set-piece that will be super fun in the videos. We’ve never done something like this so it’s pretty exciting! We are also working on some new products and merchandise, one of which I’m heading up for my own personal brand. I’ve worked hard to create some pieces that I personally love, and I can’t wait to wear and share with everyone. One other upcoming project that’s super exciting is our event that we host called Creatortopia. Creatortopia is an event that we came up with where we invite influencers and creators to all stay in a house where we film and collab all week! We had our first event in February which was a huge success and we’re already in the works for Creatortopia 2 which will be even bigger and more amazing. So look out for that soon! What I love about our videos is that we try to put messages in our or kids’ content that might resonate with them and what’s maybe going on in their lives. Often we focus on solving difficult problems, using our creativity, embracing ourselves, being goofy, and being kind to one another!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge outdoor person, and luckily Arizona has some AMAZING nature! I am a sucker for Sedona because it’s such a great place to relax and explore. I think I would also love to take someone outdoor rock climbing which is another hobby of mine! We could start at the McDowell Mountain range and then maybe head down to Queen Creek. If we were looking for something a little less active, definitely heading down to Tempe to go to Snakes and Lattes. If you like board games and coffee then this is definitely the place for you! I’m talking about every board game you could think of, old and new. They’ll have it! They also have a great menu full of food and drinks. It’s always a good time there and it’s a must for guests to Arizona.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I think that my siblings and I owe a lot of our success to my parents. They truly have been our biggest fans from day one. My dad was always there to encourage us when times were tough or when we needed help in our business in areas we were not familiar with. My mom would come on trips, help take photos, and be a supporter. They’ve always been there for me and I want to one day give back to them and show them what their support has meant to me. I’m driven with a passion to know that one day I’ll be able to take my parents on trips, buy them a house, get them a car, and so much more! My parents mean the world to me and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them. So, shout out to you, Mom and Dad!
