We had the good fortune of connecting with Eliza Zwolsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eliza, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I am a Clinical Herbalist and Reiki Master Teacher which is part of the Holistic Health or Alternative Health, I come across many people who do not follow any of this lifestyle or are new to it, who have preconceived ideas that practitioners in this industry may be calling on the forces of evil, are all 1960’s looking hippie vegans eating grass, and the list goes on.
What may pleasantly surprise people is, practitioners in the Holistic Health industry can be anyone from any walk of life.
There is no discrimination on who can practice, just the calling to learn and help others. In fact we work with Allopathic Medicine, so that the client is treated in whole body healing (mind, body, spirit). The two go hand in hand when you find the correct practitioner for you.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started slowly in building my business. First, while in Business class I started with researching my business name to see if it was available, then got my LLC. From there I have made sure to follow legal, local and national guidelines/laws for what I can and cannot say or do. I got my EIN number, a business bank account and started to learn how to build my own website.
I connected my brand name to social media, and promoting other businesses in the holistic community, as we are all working together to help each other grow.
I use a combination of modalities which have merged beautifully in my style of balancing the body. I use Herbs and Crystals in the room as a vibrational tool while preforming Reiki. I follow the traditional Reiki practice with these additions, which is why I call it Herbal Reiki. I have the client do a style of breathing and focusing to get them into a relaxed state while having the sounds of water and a type of music that is mind relaxing playing.
Most people are surprised the first time, when I end up waking them up after the session, as they usually have a racing mind and find it hard to relax.
I still work as a HVAC Retrofit Install Coordinator, which I will be leaving soon after many years, to go full time into my practice, which I have built up slow and steady.
I designed a line of Chakra balancing sprays which I call R.I.C.H (Reiki Infused with Crystals & Herbs) it is a mix between flower essence and infusions that are for that particular Chakra (Ki) area, to help promote balance and cleansing.
Having already having experience in purchasing was a help, as I knew how to locate venders and figure out costing. This is important if you plan on making products and want to get a profit without going bankrupt.
I also volunteer my Reiki services to a place called Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels in Phoenix. They support the families impacted by childhood cancer & other life threatening illnesses. This is a place of pure positivity the minute you walk onto the property.
It is important to always give forward in any way you know how, which is the most important thing to remember.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first spot would be the Desert botanical garden, as it is a lovely day trip in the heart of Phoenix and a fun walk with a butterfly garden.
Hiking the trails all around the Valley, as there are many hidden trails even locals do not realize are surrounding them.
Then a visit to Goldfield Ghost town and Mine. There is an apothecary in the town that sells homemade skin care, and other local shops.
For food, the best are the local food trucks where all the heart and soul is poured into the home recipes. This is food and drinks most restaurants just don’t come close to.
I think supporting the small local businesses shows what our home truly is and has along with the beautiful diversity.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to my Children and Grandchildren, who never told me I should not continue my education and supported my complete lifestyle change 100%+, to what and who I always was but was afraid to let completely out in the open, due to past discouragements by a backwards thinking and negative community that convinced me it was evil and strange. I am blessed to have them in my life.
Also to my Herbal sisters from SWIHA (Southwest Institute of Healing Arts) who are a powerhouse of beauty, love, support and friendship.
