We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Marchand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I just hit my 21 year mark in tattooing, and over the years I’ve learned that it’s important to never stop learning. There is always room for improvement in self, whether it be how I deal with bringing a clients expectation to life or learning a new technique that helps me accomplish the same.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently a freelance artist in fine art, and a professional tattoo artist. I have been creating art as long as I could pick up a pencil. I have a passion for all media’s of art and respect all different styles. I started tattooing before I was out of high school, taught by a good friend. After my dad passed away, as a teenager in the 9/11 attacks on America , I funneled all my emotions into my art especially tattooing. I understand that people tend to express themselves or a time in their lives through tattoos. I make it my mission to capture their story or idea and bring it to life for them. I am honored to do each piece and put my heart into all the work I do. I love getting to know my clients and understand where they are coming from in their lives. Each day I push myself to do better work as I know there is always room for improvement. God has blessed me with a gift and I enjoy sharing it. In total I have been tattooing for 21 years, hold multiple awards, and have been featured in several publications. I’ve done several commissioned pieces in acrylic, oils, murals, and logo design, and I absolutely love giving back to my community through charities and public service. I don’t see myself slowing down anytime soon, as there is so much to do and so much to learn.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still fairly new to the area, going on 3 years i believe. Since my wife and I moved here , we fell in love with the city. Id definitely recommend Isabella’s Kitchen to anyone visiting. We love the food and atmosphere. Old Town Scottsdale is a fun place to meet friends and have drinks as well. We live pretty simple lives so a fun hike in the city , and visit to the zoo is pretty awesome. When it’s not blistering hot off course. I’m a history nerd so I love checking out local museums and learning about the local history.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife is my rock. She keeps me balanced and in perspective. My mother and father play a huge role in my story. Since i was old enough to pick up a pencil they were there encouraging me and supporting my journey.
