We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Mabiala and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent the most important thing I have done is start a hair business called hairliketami which is named after my daughter, I wanted to create a business for her to take over once she grows up and take it to the next level, she’s only five years old now and she is the CEO of hairliketami. My goal is to work hard to get the business to a place where it’s bringing in good income and when she grows up she already have a business that was started for her to take it to the next level.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started off as I makeup artist in 2017 and I was working my 9 to 5 job, within that time period my passion for makeup grew more and more, I started investing a lot of my time watching YouTube videos, following different makeup artist and educating myself about this all makeup industry world that I was so interested about, everyday was a learning experience for me. I did my coworkers and friends makeup for free on the weekends to practice and perfect my work. The more my passion grew for makeup the more I disliked working my 9 to 5pm, I wanted to do makeup full time but my clientele was still not that big to quit my job. I ended up signing up for school full time quit my job and within that time I was barely taking clients because I was so focused on school, fast forward the pandemic happened and I lost my whole passion and going to school and that when I decided to do makeup full time this was in 2020 and started doing hair also because makeup wasn’t bringing me enough money, I was still broke doing makeup only I had no choice but to start doing hair also and I’m so happy I did that now I’m where I can make some income to pay few little bills while my parents help me pay the rest, I was not easy to get to where I am now I struggled building my clientele. Five years later now my clientele is getting where I want it to be. I have learned never give up keep going what’s meant for you will always be yours and put God first in everything you do and you shall succeed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to Sedona, it’s beautiful out there and the scenery is gorgeous. For a nice date night I would take my best friend to Arizona compass grill a restaurant inside of a hotel downtown Phoenix it’s beautiful at night you get to the the whole city and the restaurant rotates. The good is good and the inside is aesthetically pleasing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my parents for supporting my dreams, for being by my side through it all, for listening to all of my plans and giving me advice. For pushing and encouraging me everyday, without them none of this would be possible and I thank God for them everyday.
