We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ally, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The ultimate inspiration behind starting my business was my dog, Rylie. I’ve had Rylie for 15 years and we have a very unique story. After everything she has helped me though, I always felt called to do something in her honor and to spread awareness for animal rescue. I was working in a job that left me feeling drained, burnt out, exhausted, and very unsatisfied and just knew it was time to take the leap to start something sooner rather than later!
I know so many people who are equally obsessed with their dogs and so I decided to start something where I sold merchandise to outfit people’s dog obsession while donating a portion of every item sold to different animal rescues. I get to spread happiness to dog lovers while helping save dogs along the way!
What should our readers know about your business?
One of things I am most proud about with RylieMay is that it has allowed me to continually be able to give back to the animal community. Our mission will always be rooted in advocating for animal rescue and spreading awareness about animal rescue. I have been able to build some amazing connections within the animal community from working with a transport company, to fostering for rescue organizations, and meeting people who have purchased some our products. There are so many wonderful people I would have never met had I not started RylieMay.
I most excited about the next couple years as we expand into our own dog sanctuary. We will be able to continue to raise awareness for dogs in need and expand our ability to help more animals!
I got Rylie when I was 19 and she saved my life. We have been through everything together and to be able to be where I am now with her still by my side just motivates me so much to keep expanding and doing what we do!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shout out to my parents. My parents are who taught me that hard work and passion can get you anywhere. They also planted the seeds for my love of animals. Also, my friend Fabiola who has always been a constant source of support and encouragement!
