We had the good fortune of connecting with Emerson Birk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emerson, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Into my senior year of high school my passion for music and streetwear collided. I immediately knew I wanted to design and make art full time. To achieve the dreams we saw of living off our craft, the only option is to sell what we create.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am far from a professional, but certainly on my way. I see my growth has come from all of my attempts and effort to make the best pieces possible with what I have and where Im at. I feel a difficult part of the process is the investment of money and the possibility of the outcome not being what was intended. Letting go of that idea and doing everything in our power to ensure the outcome is as close as it can be if not perfect, consistently allows the mindset to grow. Being an artist and entrepreneur can be very intimidating but the WHY will make perseverance inevitable. LFETME is a brand/movement looking to create connections through inspiration and creativity. We create to inspire and work closer to our goals of creating full time. The future awaits!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
AZ is such a beautiful place all around, may be a little hot but the rest is amazing. A few spots I would stop for for food would be Chino Bandidos, which is a Mexican/Chinese fusion restaurant. The venues in phoenix are great as well, from The Van Buren to Crescent Ballroom. The hiking scene in Phoenix is so brand with so many options available. Last but not least do not miss the Phoenix Art Museum, my biggest recommendation.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The list is long, first I would shout out Carson Flanders, Tyler Bolliger, Tyler Cruz, and Connor Wandersee. These individuals are the main reason LFETME is what it is. Without them a lot of what you see or have seen would be non-existent. Literally. From there i would like to thank everyone who has ever shared our work, purchased a piece of merchandise, or helped in anyway they could. Nothing would be possible without all of these people. Blessings.
Big Shoutout to @TuckinFyler for always capturing our essence time and time again!
