We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily De La Cruz-Rosado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I started as a hobby to get me out of a bad place. I was diagnosed with autonomic small fiber neuropathy which is basically nerve damage through my whole nervous system. Because of that working a 9-5 job was no longer an option. It set me on a path of self-discovery and growth.

I wanted to find something that would bring me joy as well as fulfillment since I couldn’t work much anymore.

After creating an account on social media I made a lot of great connections and now I strive to keep this as something that gives me a good work life balance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

In my floral design work, what sets me apart is the connection I’ve established within my clients, and the community around me. I take pride in the relationships I’ve built with local businesses and the people who appreciate my craft.

I do try to use a more modern design style and I use colors and florals that aren’t typical to traditional designs.

My professional journey wasn’t without its challenges, especially considering my disability. However, I’ve overcome obstacles through resilience and determination. I’ve learned to adapt and prioritize self-care, creating a work environment that supports my well-being. Building relationships with fellow creatives and the community has also been vital to my growth and success. I really couldn’t have made it to this point without my husband, my family and my closest friends helping carry the weight, figuratively and literally.

I want the world to know that my brand is about celebrating human connections and creating beautiful things. My story exemplifies creativity to thrive amidst adversity. Through my floral designs and connections, I hope to inspire others to embrace their unique journeys, finding the balance between work, health and relationships. Disabilities need not define us; they can fuel innovation and artistic expression. Together, we can create something extraordinary, reminding the world that beauty and joy can blossom in any circumstances.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I am in the West Valley and there are a lot of amazing places to visit, shop and experience here.

There are  amazing small restaurants in Old Litchfeild.

Park Cafe is great for breakfast brunch and coffee. They have amazing chilaquiles and avocado toast.

Then check out Papa Paul’s for lunch.
It has good vibes and great pizza. I wouldn’t leave without a tiramisu.

These are across the street from the Wigwam Resort which also has golf. You can easily reserve a day pass here and eat and relax by their pool.

There are a few local outdoor seasonal markets. The goodyear civic center hosts small businesses on Saturdays and there are a lot of great shops to get clothing, permanent jewelry, food and much more.

The White Tanks mountains have great hiking trails as well.

There are some great boutiques to shop from in major shopping areas so before you head into the big department stores check out Arie Layne Boutique and Terra Cactus Shop.

If you still want to shop some more you can head to Tanger outlets which is across from many restaurants and a movie theater at Westgate. They have some beautiful fountains, Ice cream, candy stores and an escape room.

For facial massage aesthetic treatments or even an IV to pick you up, I recommend Desert Reign Med Spa !

I honestly would say your best bet to some of the hidden local gems is to find small businesses on Instagram and see the locals they love!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out Enroute coffee and Tea. The owners are incredibly giving and supportive of our small businesses giving them space and a platform to reach clients.
