We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmanuella Igboanugo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emmanuella, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from ogidi Anambra state in Nigeria Africa. My background and upbringing impacted who I’m today because my mom is a very good cook and she loves cooking. I would always watch her do the cooking for me and my siblings when I was growing up. Seeing her happy while cooking made me chose to be a chef and a small business owner that I am today. Another reason is growing up and seeing all those hungry kids on the street with no foods gave me the idea to open a small online business that makes Authentic AfricanNigerian Cuisine.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own two small business that I run from home. The first one is a AfricanNigerian business that specializes in making all Nigerian dishes. I love cooking so much. Cooking is my therapy for a stressful day, it relaxes me.
I opened my business on March 20th 2020 during the pandemic and it’s been amazing ever since. I learned various things like how to keep ur customers happy. U can’t please everyone, but being yourself goes a long way.
I want everyone who hasn’t tried Nigerian Cuisine to give it try. It’s a very healthy and nutritious cuisine for everyone
My second business is a custom gourmet cookies and more business. Meaning I make custom flavor cookies, pies, cinnamon rolls, healthy drinks and more.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would cook from my home. I’m more into home cooked meals than eating out. I hardly eat out unless it’s my birthday or something But I would bring them to my home and make them my favorite home cooked meal with a few drinks and teach them everything about the meal they are having. Or I would cook some home cooked meal and head out for a picnic at my favorite hiking spot that overlooks a waterfall.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my first shoutout to Clarita Rodriguez. She recommended me for this and I want to say thank you for having so much faith in me and my businesses. I appreciate it so much. She took a leap of faith after talking to me about wanting to open her business and I told her to go for it and she did. I’m glad u are my internet friend, and someday I hope to meet u.
