We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Rosenwald and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
A willingness to fail and look silly. All of the success I’ve achieved with my business started with a desire to reach further than I could grasp. That inevitably results in failure, which is a difficult thing for anyone to accept. But the anxiety and self-doubt that comes with making mistakes is just part of the process. It inspires me to create a better plan and try again. If I’m overcome with fear of failing again, I’ll never have a chance to achieve the success I was looking for.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional drone pilot focussing on creative, cinematic-style commercial videos. I work with realtors and brokers that buy and sell raw/rural land. Many of the properties I showcase are in extremely difficult-to-access locations. My skills in backpacking, backroad travel and overlanding give me an ability to reach and film any land parcel. This sets me apart from many others in my industry. Wether it’s off the side of a dirt road or deep in a mountain range, I love a new challenge!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take someone on a tour of Arizona. It’s one of the most misunderstood and underestimated states in the Union, which gives me a great opportunity to expose people to new ideas, people, and places that break common stereotypes. I’d focus on areas that few visitors go. Wether its a bed & breakfast in Bisbee, a ranch along the Mexico border or an alpine town in Northern Arizona, I’d bring my friend to places that provide opportunities to talk at length with local residents.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My step-father, Dr. Carl Ridley, Professor Emeritus at the University of Arizona. His personal and academic interests are vastly different than mine. But without him, I would have never been so willing to expose myself to – and learn from – unfamiliar ideas and approaches to life.
