We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Findley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evan, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
In 2021, a Harvard Study found that over 61% of young adults in America experience serious loneliness. I believe this is primarily due to society’s obsession with toxic social media platforms. I also believe that these platforms have driven our generation towards immense self-hatred and depression. This is a core reason why my co-founder Brett Kulp and I started the Bash Events app. Our app allows people to find REAL things to do in their area and form REAL relationships. Rather than sitting in self-loathe and social isolation, Bash Events enables users to discover various avenues for social exploration. Our mission at Bash Events is to offer our platform as resource for interpersonal interactions to take place in the world. Additionally, we hope that our users would begin to see God’s awe-inspiring character through the interactions facilitated through Bash. And we ultimately strive for these interactions to point towards a recognition of God’s love shown through the Cross. The only way people can have eternal life (John 14:6).
What should our readers know about your business?
Bash Events is a social platform that allows people to see what events or opportunities are going on around them. Users can scan their location on a map and see events that other people in their area have posted. Our app also gives users the ability to post their own events. These events can be either public or private. Public events can be viewed by anyone on our platform. Users can also send friends/family friend requests and invite them to private events. Prior to Bash Events, if someone wanted to find something to do, they would find themselves stuck in the endless trap of vague Google search recommendations. Organizing an event meant communicating across 4 different platforms and verifying attendance in three different group chats. With Bash, organizing, finding, and promoting events can be accomplished in one centralized platform.
The journey of Bash going from idea to reality is truly a testament of God’s goodness. It consisted of various networking hurdles and practical disadvantages. However, I can confidently say that at this point in time, my co-founder Brett and I are immensely excited to inform the world of this new resource that can radically transform your social life. Our desires for innovation and improvement continue to motivate us to provide people even greater solutions for event exploration.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, I had high cultural expectations for Phoenix. I was not disappointed when I learned of the city’s rich historical heritage, beautiful landscape, and mouth-watering food scene. When I think of the top spots that I would recommend to a visiting friend, a few options instantly come to mind. Food wise, the Two Hippies Beach House is a MUST visit. As a student at Grand Canyon University, I would certainly be in the majority by stating that this taco shop is absolutely incredible. Best fish taco I’ve had in my life. When my Mom came to town there was no doubt in my mind where we were eating first. My girlfriend and I also love the outdoors, so it has been really amazing to go on all the hikes the city has to offer. My personal favorite is Piestewa Peak. Lastly, there’s a ton of really interesting places to hang out. Being an on-campus student, the plethora of cool coffee shops and study lounges that GCU has to offer has created a lot of cool memories. However, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Kream Coffee, which takes the cake for coolest places to get stuff done. Perfect mix of tasty matcha, thought-provoking visuals, and a productive work atmosphere.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are numerous people and resources that have played a tremendous role in forming me into the man I am today. I could spend hours detailing the lessons my mother taught me after my father died. I could spend days reflecting on the uncontrollable laughter shared with my best friend Elijah. However, no friend, family member, or resource could ever compare to the impact Jesus has had on my life. Many claim to admire Him and respect Him. But the truth is, no success, aspiration, or goal is worth anything if it’s not founded upon glorifying Him. Mark 8:36 says, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” God’s stamp of love towards humanity is shown through Jesus’ death and resurrection. We all contribute sin and brokenness to the world, but Jesus’ selfless act on the Cross brings healing and restoration to it. This restoration means eternal life for those who believe in Him. As a result, no gain or accomplishment mankind sets forth can ultimately fulfill us. We’re made to glorify Him. Jesus has taught me that the ambitions and innovative desires I hold are not inherently present to boast in my own accomplishments. Rather, God has instilled them within me to serve as a representation of His creativity, compassion, and ingenuity within the testimony of my life.
