We had the good fortune of connecting with Fatima “Tima” Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fatima “Tima”, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue an artistic and creative career because the moments that I couldn’t express with words I can always count on Dance to relay the message for me I can always count on Dance to be my voice.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hi my name is Fatima , but you can call me Tima I am a professional Choreographer and Dancer of 6 years now. I feel like what sets me apart from others is my passion and personality. Each piece that I create has a meaning and it comes from a personal experience that can always be displayed through the movement as it’s considered storytelling. My personality is an automatic standout because I’m always optimistic and try to bring joy to whoever is around me. I got to where I am today by being consistent in my faith and working hard. Was it easy? No every day is a new challenge ,a new struggle a new obstacle to overcome it doesn’t get easier you just get better at handling it. The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is “never give up” as cliche as it may sound that’s the only thing that keep me going. Why come this far to only make it this far. I want the world to know I’m a fighter , the things I’ve been through in life are unimaginable but I never gave up, and neither should you in anything you want to do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’m not originally from Arizona so I’m not sure what the hotspots are out here but one thing is that I’m always up for a new adventure. I live for and through experiences. And I love good food! A nice restaurant that’s interactive or different with good food is always a good go to for me
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my deceased son ( due to miscarriage) When I was pregnant with you my passion and my drive grew stronger when I knew I was going to have a mini me that was going to look up to me and watch my every move my only goal was to make you proud as you were still only growing in my stomach. But when I lost you I lost sight of everything , I lost a piece of me and I lost myself , but when I look at your pictures it motivates me and it makes me want to work harder and never give up because I know you’re still watching me from Heaven and I will make you proud.
