We had the good fortune of connecting with Frommetoyou Bo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frommetoyou, what role has risk played in your life or career?
This is something I think about a lot. I never want to be a ‘scared’ person when it comes to chasing my dreams and achieving success. I believe taking risks is absolutely necessary to think / live outside the box and reach your full potential or final form… risk taking has helped to shape who I am today. It has made me resilient and able to learn from a lot of failures that has made me mature through knowledge and experience.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I hope my art helps to heal or put smiles on peoples faces (or a stank face) hah! I resonate with older hip hop, I would say I deliver more of a east coast flow. Although I’m from the southwest part of the states, the dirty dry New Mex desert. There isn’t much inspiration here sometimes and I’m usually most inspired by my peers and fun unusual rhyme schemes when I record. I would definitely say my lyricism sets me apart from other artists, and the way I’m able to confidently say something comedic about my life or current events going on. Being the most real, authentic and transparent version of myself for people to relate to. I got to where I am today with sheer determination and passion. Never giving up on myself even in dark moments of depression or self doubt. I can definitely say it wasn’t easy getting here, although I feel like I can’t really say that yet cause my journey is still just beginning and I have a ways to go still… my brand is simple to understand, my name ‘frommetoyou bo’ is a representation of what my music is rather than a alias or “rap name”. From me for you to interpret in your own world and situations, or sometimes to get a laugh out of someone on a high energy song. I want the world to gain inspiration and therapeutic comfort from music like I do. For it to lift us up and make us want to get up and move and do things again, because I personally feel like music has been dark for some amount of time now and I want to influence better in the world and in my community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I mean in New Mexico it’s definitely about the good eats. In Santa Fe we’d hit up the pantry, ramblin’ cafe, plaza cafe, depending on the occasion coyote cafe or the compound, and some hagendaz and five & dime Frito pie while we downtown. Now in Albuquerque we would definitely hit top golf for some fun and if course the fried mac n’ cheese balls and icing filled donut holes! Filiberto’s, chili chicken, Sadie’s for sure… I mean the list of food spots I could go on forever. I’d say we’d definitely try and catch a show or some type of artistic event (preferably including us). Other than that ya know I really appreciate the out doors and scenery and relaxing for real, because it’s what I do the least of that brings me peace I Wish I got more of.
