We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Customer service has always been the backbone of our company. I often say that we are a Customer Service company that happens to clean windows. We are not just delivering a service. Our goal is to deliver an experience. We recognize that it is a privilege to enter into a client’s home and be allowed to work in rooms that they otherwise would not allow visitors to go. We want our customers to feel comfortable with our technicians, trusting that we will respect their privacy and property. We want them to feel that the money they spent was worth the investment in their home and that they would know without a doubt that they made the right choice in a window cleaning company. That motivation is what keeps our company going and continuing to grow as the years go by.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We started out as a single owner/operator and remained that way for many years. The birth of my daughter forced us to choose whether we needed to grow the business to cover our increasing expenses or sell and try to get a “real” job. Thankfully, several job opportunities fell through, which we saw as a sign that we needed to stick it out with our business. How glad we are that did!

The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that there is rarely just one “right” way to do things. Usually there are dozens of ways to accomplish our goals and they reside on a sliding scale of effectiveness and efficiency. My job to to do the research and find the way that works best for our particular situation. However, even if I don’t make the perfect decision, we still can get to where we are trying to go. That viewpoint has alleviated a lot of stress and anxiety as a business owner and has allowed me to take chances that I would have never dared in the past.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I truly believe that Tucson is the best place in the US for Mexican food. And I know most of the places. We have such a selection, from “hole in the wall” restaurants, food trucks, and carts to restaurants that have an ambiance and beautiful music. So, I would plan a dining route that would take us from the Southside where we would go to El Guero Canelo, Rollie’s, MI Nidito, & Tacos Apson, to the West side where we have Theresa’s Mosaic, La Parilla Suiza, & Aqui Con El Nene, to the Eastside with Calle Tepa, El Molinito, and Taco Giro. I’d mention more, but we only have a week!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people who have helped me over the years. Currently, I derive the most mentorship from my involvement in two industry organizations: the International Window Cleaning Association and Into the Flow, a community of window cleaners who’s mission is to promote education, safety, and philanthropy. These two organizations are comprised of many experienced people who I can turn to for business advice and support.
