We had the good fortune of connecting with George Berman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi George, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Me and my partners have the same work ethics and attitude. We find it important to keep it real, be ourselves, always see photography as art and not a way of getting wealthier. I also think that the fact that we have a real personal approach with all couples that contact us, talk about all details with them, help them as much as we can in any questions or ideas makes us more than just “their photographers” we become friends and a part of their wedding day.
It’s important to have your own style in photography, but our vibe is what made us successful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Photography to me is art, it’s pure expression of feelings, thoughts and worries that trouble my micro universe. The fact that I was and is a stubborn person that stand up to my ideas and choices made my photography game from day one to have its own style and way of “saying things” despite any early criticism that might had changed my path.

I love the fact that i travel so so much around the world, taking pictures and meeting all these lovely and awesome souls, it’s to the least invigorating!
Getting to this point though was really really tough, I had to work more as a DJ in order to get the gear needed to do photoshoots in the way that I wanted to, had to stop listening to people that tried to discourage me from becoming a photographer, others “professionals” talking trash about my part time job as a DJ, quit working with toxic persons and finally managing to control the first harsh situations in shootings that went not the way I wished for. It’s a process that you have to go through and only people that love you can help you deal with all the early rough times (ohhhh they were tough indeed).

Through the passing of time, I learned that controlling situations that pop up is not possible, but I can control my own reaction and calmness, being relaxed makes everyone around you feel safe and try to keep you around for that reason. Sticking firmly to your own style no matter what is the most important factor, there are many photographers out there, some copy the same thing, not me, I carved my own path in the way that I take photos, their editing, my black n white photos, my partners that it’s important to be at the same level with me, equals, my way of being there for my clients, even the way that I dress to photoshoots!

I’ve come to a way that my brand has its own beautiful soul, a team of photographers that loves every little detail of what it does, loves meeting people and making them happy not just taking pictures of them, but by also sharing every moment together.

I love my little-big brand family and the fact that in personal rough times it was my harbour and my warmest hug not just by my partners but also by the couples that I met along the way, makes me happy and proud. This is what makes us stand out I think, our soulful vibe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omg I would totally take him to Sedona to do everything! It’s like the place to be that has that energy that can keep you there, from walks in the wild, to awesome restaurants and lovely nights under the stars!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think that my family, my son and one person especially (can’t name though) helped me enormously to get my ideas and passion to this point. People that push you to do things, to go off your safety zone in order to create on your own, are a blessing.
