Meet Gigi DeCore | Musician & Fitness Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gigi DeCore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gigi, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I feel that God blesses each of us with a gift and it if we don’t follow and relentlessly chase after it we suffer haha so without sounding horribly poetic, if I don’t pursue my creativity, insanity pursues me. It is a calling, it is like looking at the sky, there is no end it is ever growing and changing. It shapes you and teaches you about yourself and others in a beautiful way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been a singer-songwriter my whole life. Only recently I have been performing out consistently and recording my songs. I ran/hosted a singer-songwriter event in Phoenix for a year called ‘Coffee and a Concert’ at Café Mollie and Dulce Vida. My goal was to get to know and bring together the music community, that goal was achieved. Now I am focusing on building a set with a live band so we can perform at local venues. Two years ago I finally learned how to play guitar (taught by Cory West and my supportive partner Anthony Jaroscak) it was and is extremely challenging to play, but it has shaped me as an artist and unlocked SO many doors!
I am also a fitness professional and SRT (Soft Stretch Release Technique) therapist. Having two major passions (music and fitness), is challenging, but in so many beautiful ways they work together and are both creative outlets for me.
What I hope the world can take from my personal experience and my music is to embrace every aspect of life. Every up is followed by a down and every down inspires the next up. My songs are made to feel. I don’t try to define my music, because what might mean something to someone means something completely different to another and I think that is so cool!
My personal brand or maybe my “why” is to take the best care of yourself that you possibly can, because you only get one shot. I believe energy is everything, we can not exist without community and I hope when people experience my creativity, they are able connect with themselves. I pray it helps bring out the version of themselves they are so desperate to meet!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am originally from Wheaton Illinois a little suburb outside Chicago so everything about Arizona and Phoenix is an eventful experience for me. I love to hike, I would take someone who’s visiting here to Beaver Creek in Rimrock. Only after visiting my favorite coffee shop ‘Where U Bean’ in Chandler! First Friday event in downtown Phoenix is a must. The Bridge Improv Theater in Tempe on Friday and Saturday nights! El Charro Hipster Bar on Thursday nights to see the open mic performers and enjoy their yummy food! There is literally something going on out here every single day. Something creative and brand new!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, Dana DeCore. My mom is my number one supporter, she gave me every single opportunity to succeed and indulge in my interests growing up. She never forced anything, rather she basked in the enthusiasm life has to offer and effortlessly created a space for my brother and I to enjoy our passions and pursue them. She encouraged and supported everything we wanted to try and was and is excited for our excitement. My mothers ability to question everything and live in the moments as they are happening has taught me to not only face my fear, but to exist in my fear as though it were the only option. My mom is extremely creative and always helping others, she is tactful and kind. Her kindness and humanness has taught me that is the only way to succeed. Above all my mother taught me about God’s love, and through Him I feel able to achieve what I know He put me here for.![]()
