We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
God first and foremost. And Family honestly. Support from the ones you love the most is so big in everything us as artist do. It’s a big risk in this industry and to get unconditional love and support also criticism from the people that mean the most always boost moral as well as motivation. With out them this journey (which is already incredibly hard) would be impossible. My work ethic to my drive has always been because of the circle of people in my life… man I’m lucky.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music has always been to inspire, I want you to know that you can do whatever it is you want to do. Literally anything is life is possible if you put your mind to it. I want everyone to realize that, and know that we all have the potential to be great. What sets me apart from other artist is my drive and my willingness to learn whatever I have to so that my craft is getting one hundred percent my best efforts. My attitude really exudes though me and in such a positive way that if I’m not smiling then people feel something is wrong. I love being positive and I love focusing on self growth with, whether it be myself or helping aiming realize there potential I’m all about being the best version of yourself. I’m most proud of the loyal fans that I have because in actuality it still feels surreal to even say I have fans but thank the lord I do. I’m excited about this new music coming out soon. None of this was ever easy and the most challenging task I’ve ever set for myself. It’s demanding, expensive, and a one in a million shot… so yeah many hurdles have came with pursuing a life in the music industry but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Along the way I’ve learned the true persistence along with passion can get you a very long way, and the belief that you are going to make it. I just want the world to know that we all have a story and we all want to be great at something.. it just the effort in actually going for it that some people have and some people don’t and I want the world to know that no matter what there is someone that believes in you and it is possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Early morning hikes on South Mountain, Camelback, Estrella mountain always set the mood for the day. I’d say downtown for the mid morning brunch vibes. Really good spots there and the ever growing downtown is just so beautiful to see before your eyes, it’s no New York! But for Phoenicians it’s a true pride of ours. Scottsdale night life is definitely one for the books too, from the numerous clubs to the classic food spots to hit up after the club Scottsdale has it all.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First person has to be my partner in life… she pushes me in ways I would never be pushed by anyone else. She knows my potential and doesn’t accept nothing less than my very best. Secondly my best friends, there’s only a few and they always ask the right question and suggest the best ideas when I need them. Gary V, Jay Z both had solid books to read that also helped keep me poised as well focused.
