We had the good fortune of connecting with Gonzalo Olea Aros and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gonzalo, why did you pursue a creative career?
One of the reasons I pursued an artistic career was because it was what I liked to do. I have always thought that in this life you should do what makes you happy, no matter what it is, if it makes you happy, do it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started taking pictures in 2015 when I bought my first camera, which I bought in order to take pictures of the stars, but over time I began to practice all kinds of photography. This path has not been very easy because I am never satisfied with the results I obtain, I always think that I am far from the level of other photographers, but it has been nice to be able to fight every day to improve. I once saw a video in which he said that if something does not go well it does not mean that you are bad, but that you should dedicate more time, and that’s one of the things I’ve been working on for many years, dedicating more time to my passion to achieve better results. One of the things I feel the world should know about me is that I do all of this with a lot of passion. My personal works take a lot of time for dedication and planning. I also invest a lot of my time in the work for the companies or individuals with whom I work, I am very detailed and perfectionist and because of that I strive to deliver quality photos to each of the people with whom I work. This passion is what helps me to enjoy every day of my life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The truth is that I live in a small town where there are not many places where you can go out to visit, but if I could choose a place where I could go outside, it would be the mountain, any mountain where I can be in peace and chatting with someone person, sleep there, eat, watch the sunrise, sunset, listen to nature, take pictures, enjoy every moment of the day to be able to observe what surrounds us. Also if it were possible to meet people from different cultures to learn from them and their experiences. I like to be alone but I also really enjoy meeting new people and they have many stories from their lives to share.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is the one that has always supported me in this process since I started. I will be grateful for my whole life. I have many friends who have also supported me every day, and to my surprise, many people I do not know have given me many nice comments about my photographic work. I am eternally grateful for each of them.
