We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Koval and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Grace, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I love our neighborhood and I really wanted to highlight the fact that Arcadia Lite has a lot to offer for those living nearby. There are so many businesses renovated and new that deserve more customers.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I truly believe that if you are quick on your feet and resourceful, you can succeed at almost anything. I put myself through college working two jobs and have always enjoyed staying busy. As I progress through my professional Marketing career, I have noticed that people have one of two work ethics: comfortable “figuring it out” on their own or always asking you first before going through all other avenues first. I feel that you can learn a lot quickly by “doing” vs. asking. I’ve had challenges along the way, both personally and professionally, and I thank my resourcefulness for getting through it all. I have been immersed in social media since the start of my career and I have been wanting to start a lifestyle account for a while. As soon as we moved to Arcadia Lite, I saw how many local businesses were nearby and deserved recognition online. I encourage other local businesses to reach out so I can post about them on my feed or in stories. It’s essentially free advertising for them to a very targeted market.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My itinerary would be different for summer vs. winter. During the winter, 36 Below is a new and intimate speakeasy. Old Town Scottsdale is so much fun to walk around at night with all of the lights out. Christmas at The Princess is a new tradition we have added for our family.
Spring/Summer brings so many options. I love eating at The Henry for any meal. Girls brunch at Toca Madera never disappoints. If I am in need of a unique gift, I love visiting The Lifestyled Co. boutique on 44th St. & Indian School. Alixandra Blue has the latest trends for clothing. OHSO Brewery is a great hangout spot with great Happy Hour and I love that they are very dog-friendly! I probably go to DLite drive-thru at least twice a week for a Breakfast Buzz during the summer. It’s the best way to reward my morning workout and the protein/espresso combo is DELISH.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sister, Holly, has always supported me in everything that I do. I have always been a hustler. I love staying busy so I have a lot of side gigs. Whether it’s Arcadia Lite Living, my event planning business, Creatively Graceful Events, or my everyday job, she’s been amazing at encouraging me. She’s a great source of inspiration too.
