Meet Harp and Jaz Gill | Owners of Gill and co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Harp and Jaz Gill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harp and Jaz, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We (Harp and Jaz) wanted to come up with a brand which allowed customers to be more hands-on in their suit buying experience. Which means, we make made-to-measure custom suits but allow our customers to design their own. By selecting their own fabrics, linings and buttons. We are also the only company in Arizona that is mobile, we bring the whole shopping experience to the customers location.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from others is that we really care about our customers. We are not just selling suits its the whole experience that comes along with our brand. We are a mobile company that brings the shop to the customers location.

We let our customers be hands on in the designing process by selecting from 100’s of fabric’s, linings and buttons. They can customize their own suits and dress shirts in a really creative way.

What makes us proud is that we don’t make one size fit all suits we make our suits made to measure. This gives each customer a suit that is made just for them and that fits like a glove.

We got to were we are today by having an idea and writing it all down in a business plan. Once the business plan was completed, we started looking for professional tailors to work with. After talking to a few different tailors we choose one tailor that understood our vision. We formed our LLC, got our website and set up all our social media accounts. This was the beginning of our business.

In the beginning of our business we had a few challenges like, not having a clear process for our tailors and also we didn’t had a plan of how we were going to reach our customers.

We overcame our challenges by having a clear communication with our tailors and providing them with all the custom details that our customer wanted. Based on the communication with the tailor we made a whole new process and it worked.

At the beginning we were using social media ads to target our audience, but unfortunately this was not successful. We decided to take a different approach by posting more content on our social media with our suits and interacting more with local people in Arizona. This approach helped us getting more exposure for our business in the community. We also attend many business events to connect with local businesses.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our favorite spots in Arizona are:

– Walking around at Scottsdale Quarter
– Shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall
– Eating our favorite pizza at Reel’s Pizza
– A few of our favorite restaurants are also, Hash Kitchen, Kona Grill, North Italia and Indian Delhi Palace.
– The best milkshake in town is going the be at the Yard Milkshake Bar in Downtown Phoenix!
– Best desert for us will be at Sugar Bowl.
– Places to do nice activities are, top golf, glow in the dark golf, attending the Phoenix Suns game and hiking in Sedona!

We were inspired to start our journey with Gill and co. by following many successful people such as, Robert Kiyosaki (after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad), also listening to podcasts from Ed Mylett, Brad Lea and the Local Hustlers Podcast. Because of all the different guest speakers on the podcasts this really allowed us to take notes to help grow our business.

We love listening to inspirational business podcasts, going to local business events like Arizona Entrepreneurs and meeting like minded people.
