We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Usher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
It’s a lot more work than you think . When I graduated, a simple before and after picture was perfect but now it takes more editing and photography skills to really show your craft and talent.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Is school easy? No. Is life easy? No. Am I where I want to be in the beauty industry ? No. But am I giving up? Absolutely not. Nothing is ever going to be easy. Ever since I was 19 I have learned the hard way and I wouldn’t change it for the world . My advice is to never give up. I moved across the country on a whim and was able to become my own boss within a year of moving!!!!! It’s unreal , scary and exciting. But keep on swimming 💕
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends came for a week, we would do a lot of sunrise hikes , check out all of the local coffee shops and definitely take two days to go explore Sedona. Arizona is stunning and the outdoors is even more beautiful . We would paddle board on the lakes , check out local music and check out all of the local brewery’s .
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I 200% have to shout out my parents for pushing me to finish beauty school when I had a few weeks left and didn’t have a car. It was hard paying for rides and asking for rides so I was giving up. My mom called me and said get ready for school I’m going to drive an hour away to take you to school today . At that moment I knew that I needed to finish and not give up .
