Meet Irina Day: Permanent Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Irina Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Irina, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?

Ever since my teens, I’ve paid close attention to people’s overall appearance, especially the facial features. I was always skilled with makeup and hair. My family and friends would allow me to help to choose makeup and hairstyles that would complement their individual features and style.  Somehow, they liked my advice and I continued to help more and more. It became a passion of mine!

 The standards in Russia were very high. It has always been the culture to look beautiful always looking one’s very best. Unfortunately, at that time, there was no course work in the beauty industry. So I graduated from University with an accounting degree. When I came to America, I started with banking, then transitioned into the insurance field. I was on my new chapter of life so  I asked myself what I would really love to do. For the next 15 years I  followed my passion. I took courses related to cosmetics and skincare, and medical esthetics. I was fortunate to work for Cosmetic leaders such as Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, and Estee Lauder… and more. I learned makeup techniques from some of the best Cosmetic Companies in the industry. I worked with countless people and learned many have a hard time applying their own makeup. This is what inspired me to become a permanent makeup artist. To help meet women at this need,  I then started my own business – Lux Beauty PMU. There is nothing more rewarding than to see my clients happy and feeling beautiful. I’m proud to be able to say they return for additional services and refer others to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am a professional certified permanent makeup artist! I work with women and men to create and enhance their facial features; brows, lips, and/or eyes. Being a  permanent makeup artist requires a certain skill set.  I am committed to always building upon my knowledge and skill set. A permanent makeup artist must complete the foundational basic course work then should advance to multiple specialty masterclasses. I have taken numerous advanced classes and am committed to ongoing learning. I learn any new techniques that are developed.

I love people, I love seeing them feeling beautiful and happy! From the moment my clients step through my door, I make sure they feel relaxed and comfortable. They will be properly and professionally informed based on the procedure of your choice. I will take the time to answer any questions or address any concerns they may have. I will help them obtain the look that expresses the way they feel or rediscovering that youthful beauty they have missed with the passing of the years. It is my mission to have my customers look and feel the very best!  With beautiful healthy results. I am an owner of Lux Beauty PMU and right now it is myself and my wonderful marketing person. Going through Covid has been not easy for business but I have been very blessed and grateful for all my clients and the support I have received! I have the desire to have a team in near future. I wish to share my knowledge and skill with a team that would give me the opportunity to deliver a warm customized experience to more people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I take all my visitors to Sedona, there are so many hiking trails to visit. The scenery is breathtaking! The landscape is unbelievable. I love the small art galleries and shops. I like to eat lunch at the Wildflower Bread Company, it has such a  beautiful view. I love attending a spiritual retreat, a meditation, and visiting relaxing spas in town! I also go hiking here in the Valley, visit the Phoenix Zoo, or the botanical garden in Superior! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure.
