We had the good fortune of connecting with Isa Bellido and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Under my point of view the most important factor of success is HAPPINESS, maybe im no satisfy with the result of my music career now but im happy to know that im doing what I love, i’m happy of the process even with the hardest moments because they left me a lesson, i’m happy because I can see people around me supporting me, I’m happy because I can reach different lifestyle, countries, cultures doing what I love that is music. So, I constantly I ask my self “Is this bringing me happiness?” And could be in short terms or long terms because you know, sometimes we have to do something that we don’t enjoy that much but at the end of the process is gonna bring us joy and success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
About my art I’m a singer who love encourage other people through the music and I truly believe that what make me different is my story. In Chile in 1993 was hard found black people, and my dad is Afroperuvian so I’m mulatta and I grew up in Chile, I started to go to school and of course I was different from most of the child in there.. They laughed at my skin color, my hair, how my dad looks like, making so much jokes of me and I grew up with the idea that the attributes I have were not enough and that permeated my self-esteem. So trying to fit in I started to straighten my hair and do what others did, but it was quite uncomfortable. But one day I realized that it’s not bad to be different, in fact diversity makes the world more interesting! everyone with different talents makes us depend on each other and be a community and I believe the diversity makes us feel alive. For example visit different countries, eating different food, dressing in different colors, everything is about diversity.
So, now im really proud of who I am -Im still working on it, where I am and how I have been managed all the process and I excited because I have a conviction I will reach my goals and Im already causing impact in different lives.
Always is gonna be hard follow your dreams when you start form the bottom plus when you choose a career that the society think that isn’t smart at all but, from an early age I was exposed to music and I just fall in love to my musician referents such a Joss Stone, Erykah Badu, Beyonce, Nina Simone, etc, and I found in those persons something magic, the colors of their voices, their movements, the way they can express themselves with so much originality and authenticity. In so far as, I was growing I started to interpreted the music as a powerful weapon and I got that from my singer referents, understanding that they use not only the music to express themselves or entertainment, but also to manifested their way of think about some political issues in relation with the black Americans, the women rights, etc. When I realized this, made me move forward and be conscious that I want to become a singer who no just sing for escape, pleasure or entertainment but improve somehow the life of the people who give a play to my music.
Was it easy? Not and here is where my family and friends play an important role becase they have been supporting me in so many different ways. Also, watch biography of another artist, read books that motivate me and hear podcast is a good way to keep me on tracks
I start to take private music lesson with different couch to improve my voice some of them good and some of them not that much but im grateful because I haven’t been learning just vocal techniques but also face different situation in the music environment that even can take place in my personal life.
I want the world know me as Isa Bellido the girl who cross horizons reaching her dreams, being kind with the people around, the girl who change a moment of many lives and at the same time the greatest voice, sexiness women, success career and so much more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest when is about to have fun its fine being in a house with friends, eating and drinking, play table games, karaoke or dance choreography. But, if I have to choose, I will take them to Rome 2019. Two weeks trip with my two older brothers. I went there to celebrate my birthday -one of my dreams was know the “Trevi Fountain” and I did it! We took breakfast at the yard’s home, we play some music with an ukelele, we ate egg’s sandwich, tea, coffee and of course cheese. After that, the adventure started we walked so much that day and the ukelele was with us whole time hahaha, we were stopping by monuments as Trevi Fountain, Coliseum, Sant’ Eustachio, Capitolline Hill. Vatian City, food’s fairs, ice cream shops, we even found a train station with our last name on Italian. I have so much fun watching a complete different culture as mine, how they dress, how they express their self, the life style and I just love it. Also, I was so exciting to share this experience with my brothers because on trips the relationships make stronger -sometimes not haha- but we are four sibling everyone living in different country/city so, the reunion was extraordinary.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is so many people who deserve a little bit of credit but I want to give credit to my mom & sister they have been in all the process encourage me when I have no strength left to continue, cheering me up when I feel frustrated, showing me their love constantly and unconditionally even though they are 5,500 miles away, I can feel them here.
