Meet Isabelle Guarino

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabelle Guarino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isabelle, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
RALAcademy has made a huge impact in the senior housing space by helping real estate investors get involved and open quality care homes for seniors in a world where seniors are being left behind, becoming an after thought. We started our business with our own grandmother in mind, beautiful Marie Guarino. She fell and broke her hip and needed assistance for those last few years of life. It drove us to find a better option for not just her, but all seniors who found themselves in this same situation where their mental or physical health started to decline. We created our first care home that year with the intent to move her in, but she passed before we could. The entire experience sparked something huge in my family, we dedicated our lives to helping other seniors, just like my grandmother, never have to go through that same experience. If we couldn’t do it for her, we’d do it for every other senior we could! And that’s where the mission of RALAcademy started: to positively impact 10 million seniors through high quality assisted living in a residential home environment. Since opening our RAL homes 14 years ago we’ve served over 120 seniors in our own homes. We also started training others how to open homes almost 11 years ago now, and that training has lead to over 500 new care homes opened across the county! It’s incredible what one incident can lead to, life changing circumstances for so many people.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
With almost 11 years in this business it’s taken so much to get where we are today. Constant ear to the ground, constant re-inventing of ourselves and constant learning and improvement. We don’t sit still for long, no product is ever perfected or done. We are pros at ideating, creating, producing and continuing to perfect. Whatever our students and clients ask for, we work hard to bring to market for them. This has not been easy over the years, it’s taken back breaking work, 100,000’s of dollars and efforts that sometimes feel wasted until you get that one person who says, “this changed my business”, or “this helped me go so much faster” it’s those little moments that make it all worth it. Everything we do at RALAcademy is for the greater good of seniors and in that case for the greater good of our clients. We are the nation’s #1 educational source for all things Residential Assisted Living! We have trained 1000’s of incredible entrepreneurs how to get started in this industry and we are honored to be a small part of their success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ocean 44 is always a favorite restaurant and if the weather permits a nice hike on Camelback!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without the help and support of my incredible team at RALAcademy! Many of them are family, but others are friends so close they could be family! When my father passed in 2021, the company was left to my siblings and I and we could have shut it down, stopped and walked away, but we decided to forge on and keep going. This was a huge shift and would not have been possible without the love and support from our team. They spent countless hours rebuilding sites, reworking marketing materials, rebranding ads, editing videos and supporting our 1000’s of clients so that we could have a moment to recoup and get a game plan.
The team at RALAcademy is truly the best of the best, they have stepped up over the course of the years in so many ways and I am so grateful for every single one of them in my life. They’ve been there in the highs and lows and as much as they believed in me and us, I have believed in them. Some people tout a family culture at their company, we never set out to do that, we only set out to serve, serve, serve! But in serving, our team became like family, helping others open businesses, always doing what’s right, no matter the cost or suffering it takes to get there, and being beyond efficient.
