We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan McGhee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivan, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I believe the way my business helps the community is we give small businesses/entrepreneurs a voice and a face in this digital space we live in. Specifically service professionals. You know, the business owner that doesn’t sell a product. The entrepreneur that provides solutions and piece of mind. The ones that have knowledge and expertise on the market.

In this digital age, we’re getting business owners up to speed. Sooooo many business still have a website that is full of text. People are looking for video nowadays. As a matter of fact, according to HubSpot, 73% of people want to see “entertaining” videos. Information is retained easier through video. In a matter of minutes you can explain who you are, what you do and your process with an engaging and entertaining video. 72% of customers said they would rather learn about a product or service by way of video. In fact, 84% of people say they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video. It really works for business owners. The right video that is.

Business owners are busy, we help them save time. When we create a video for a business owner, we just multiplied them essentially. Video covers more ground for them than they ever could alone. Word of mouth is great but nothing moves faster than the internet. Imaging having your brand message on auto pilot 24/7. That’s how we are helping our community and hopefully, one day, the world.

What should our readers know about your business?
Concrete Focus Productions helps business owners build trust in their fields through intelligent, strategic video marketing assets. We collaborate with them to create a first impression that is in play 24/7. When you sell solutions or provide a service, its all about trust, connections, clarity and the all important 1st impression. It’s a bit more difficult than just saying you’re the expert, people need to SEE it, trust you and believe that you really are an expert in your field. When your clients/customers can see who you are and what you do from their comfort level it’s that much easier for them to want to engage you.

That’s what we do here at Concrete Focus Productions; to capture what makes your business unique, and showcase it visually to attract your ideal clients, build trust with them quickly and clarify your process to them. Whether we create a Video Business Card, Content Stacks, Testimonials, or clever Ads, we help you bridge that gap between you and your clients/customers.

The more eyes that are on small businesses, the better off the community will be.

Nothing makes me more proud than the “client reveal session”. That’s the zoom meeting I have with a client after the video is done. We hop on a zoom call and view the video together. The joy on their faces once they see the final product is always the payoff for me. They can’t believe how they look “starring in their own movie”. It’s a priceless experience.

I got where I’m at today just by grinding. What I mean by that is I’m always doing something to improve. Even little things. I wear a lot of hats in my company and I’m most likely the face people meet first. Business is NOT easy. There are so many ups and downs, (more downs at times) and it really takes a strong minded individual to ride these waves. I’m blessed to have a spouse to lean on as well as other entrepreneurs but even then it can be daunting.

The best lesson I’ve learned, in my opinion, is within your failures. Shit goes sideways, so what. Did you LEARN? Do you know what went wrong? If not, find out. go over it, comb through it and find the solution. I think social media makes success look like a race. Just be better that you were yesterday. Don’t get too high after a win and don’t get too low after a loss. I also think entrepreneurs/business owners should find a space where they can just talk about the trials and tribulations of grinding in business. No selling/pitching, just go hang with people that are like minded and you can vent. Sometimes you’re going through it and keeping it to yourself and maybe saying it out loud will help you find the solution.

What I want the world to know about CFP is we are pros that don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re honest, affordable and we’re going to make you comfortable and showcase the best version of you on film. Once you have a video marketing asset you’ll see the difference between the elite and the antiquated.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I’m a home body. When I do leave the cave though, I love to eat. A Sunday brunch at Hash Kitchen is the best for anybody looking for great food and great music. Live DJ at 9am? Don’t mind if I do.

If you’re like me and you love some good live R&B/Soul music then you gotta head to Chars has the Blues. It’s small but that’s the best part. You’re up close and personal. It’s definitely an experience.

When it’s not blazing hot a good place to go is Tempe Town Lake. Rent a donut boat and take some friends. Vibe man, just vibe.

One place I actually plan on going this year is Top Golf. I know, I know, not too exciting but I’ve never been and I’ve been putting it off for too long. Lets get some drinks in and slap some golf balls!

Besides that I’ve been known to grill some burgers, smoke some meat and have a great night at home with friends. Like I said, I’m a home body but I’m an EXCELLENT host. Beer, food and cornhole. Lets Go!!!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh man, where do I start. Ok lets start with my wife, Rachel. When I came to her with this vision, she didn’t blink she just jumped on board. A true ride or die. Lol. We do this together, She’s my director and she’s an integral piece to my story. Next I’d have to give a shoutout to 2 of my mentors. 1 being Ty Turner of Flash Film Media, he really unlocked all the knowledge and direction for me. If I hadn’t stumbled across his YouTube channel, I would’ve never have even known this career path existed. I consider him a real friend. Next would have to be my best bud named Dave. He’s the Owner of Foxal, a video agency in Philadelphia. This man is truly an angel. He has always been somebody I can talk to about this business and he always shares his knowledge. We share laughs, stories and ideas. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely road but it’s an easier road to travel with friends like Dave. He’s really more than a mentor. I’ve been extremely fortunate to encounter some truly kind and interesting people. I’m blessed.
