We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Shope and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackie, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
My whole life I wanted to be an educator. I would pretend I was a teacher and “teach” my younger sisters with a chalkboard when were growing up. I followed my dreams and was in my eighth year of teaching high school math when I found out I was pregnant with our second child. I knew daycare for two would be more than my paychecks, and was stressed that staying home to raise my kids would place a large financial burden on my husband to provide for us. That’s when the opportunity to own and run PhotoFunBooth came into play. The idea of working from home as a business owner and being able to contribute financially was perfect. However, deciding to leave the only career I knew to jump into a business that was evolving quickly, was terrifying. The difficulty of starting a business was stressful and at times discouraging. Although it was the toughest decision I have ever had to make, it was certainly one of the best!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
PhotoFunBooth is a locally owned photo booth company that provides a mobile photo booth service for any type of event or celebration. It was very difficult in the beginning to get started and receive funding for the business purchase. However with the help of several entrepreneur friends, and extensive research on my part, I was able to proudly call myself the owner of PhotoFunBooth. PhotoFunBooth has grown to six photo booths, with three different photo booth style options to choose from. Our props are fun and creative, and custom to your event type. We also offer several add-ons including scrapbooks, photo strip frames, game rentals and more! Our mission is to provide a memorable and fun experience for every single person who takes a photo in our photo booth. Our mission, variety in booth style options, fun props and friendly attendants definitely set us apart from others.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My list of shoutouts could go on for days. I have been blessed with amazing family and friends who have supported PhotoFunBooth through various avenues from the start. But the biggest shoutout goes to my husband Jeff. He is not only a great soundboard for all my wild and crazy ideas, but he fully supports the implementation of them as well. He is a large reason we have been able to expand our business as much as we have.
