Meet Jada Willis | Personal Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jada Willis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jada, why did you pursue a creative career?
Because I had worked in an analyst/managerial role for so long, I was ready to fill the space in my life with what I felt was missing—the opportunity to impact people with the other (creative) side of my brain.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have the honor of dressing superheroes — people wearing lots of hats, but not wearing a cape. I choose to work with professionals and creatives who are ready to level up to the next point in their careers. My clients are excellent at what they do, but they admittedly have a blind spot in area of personal presentation.
This niche was a natural pick for me after spending 12+ years in a corporate setting. As one could imagine, however, moving from a cushy job to being an entrepreneur was not so natural or easy. Lots of people around me doubted the risky jump, especially having young twins boys to raise alongside my husband.
My biggest challenge in transitioning into a full time entrepreneur was having mindset blocks. I was scared of failing my family if I didn’t have enough business and, ultimately, having to go get a job doing something I was not passionate about…because I couldn’t cut it as a stylist.
The mindset blocks I had for myself are the same ones I recognize in my clients who are ready for a personal change, but unsure of what it looks like or how to achieve it. When they hire with me, they are getting one enthusiastic cheerleader! I know what magic can be achieved when people are confident — it’s a key ingredient to their success. I am their confidence coach via the closet, teaching them how to manifest opportunities by looking authentically them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friends and I are chill people, but we love to enjoy good food and people watch.
As a breakfast lover, I would take them to a local favorite, Makers & Finders, to dine on Latin-inspired dishes and lavender fog tea.
As you can imagine, in my line of work, I have no problem killing time at any of Vegas’ fine shopping centers, like the North Premium Outlet Mall to check out deals on past season collections. And I always find time to introduce friends to my favorite dress shop, Rene Tyler Plus Size, located in the Fashion Show Mall. It’s like Disneyland for formal and cocktail wear!!
When I want to share a different side of Vegas, I’ll pick up a specialty latte from Royal Roasters Coffee and take the scenic drive to Lake Las Vegas. In the summer, there is always something fun happening in the Village down there. It’s far from the Strip and makes you slow down and take in the beauty of the lake between the desert mountains.
Friends always want me to stop by In-n-Out for a double double cheeseburger….and I indulge. However, when dinner time rolls around, it’s time to step it up. My favorite restaurant on the Strip is Wazuzu, a pan-Asian restaurant within Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Everything is amazing, but I always order Drunken Noodles and crispy Brussels spouts when I’m with newbies — everyone has to try it!
After dinner, it’s always fun to grab a cocktail from Parasol Up there at the hotel, and go to the patio and watch the Lake of Dreams show for awhile.
People always ask me what shows to see. You can’t go wrong with the Cirque Du Soleil shows, but lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun at showroom performances. Right now, the All Motown show is my jam! I love to dance and sing along with the ladies on stage!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are quite a few entities that deserve love for helping me live out my dream career, but one organization that allowed me the space to really see what my impact could be was Dress for Success Southern Nevada and their former Executive Director, Paula Lawrence.
Dress for Success empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing career development tools, a support network and — my favorite resource — professional attire. I had the pleasure of serving as a volunteer stylist. I loved being able to educate women on how to dress professionally and authentically. Paula was my cheerleader and even gave me opportunities to create special programs to style and teach within the organization!
