We had the good fortune of connecting with James Tulin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“Strong as he who allows his actions to control his emotions, weak is he who allows his emotions to control his actions.”
It is a well-known fact that nothing ventured, nothing gained. There is virtually nothing in this life that does not involve some degree of risk and unless you are willing to take chances you will never achieve your goals no matter how lofty they may be.
I subscribed to the mentality that fear is crippling to the degree that it paralyzes one’s ability to achieve greatness. I’ve always been willing to approach each challenge as an opportunity understanding that the goal is to mitigate negative circumstances as best as possible ,but at the end of the day there’s always an opportunity to fail which is nothing other than an opportunity to succeed.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have spent my entire life in one industry to which I was fortunate enough to love what I did every day. I have an unyielding motivation to address all challenges with an unrelenting passion to achieve my goals. I genuinely believe that with hard work and perseverance you can accomplish anything in your life that you wish. I have spent my entire life devoted to my craft working tirelessly to achieve my goals with nothing mitigating my ability to succeed.
I learned along the way that emotional decisions are typically disastrous, but unfortunately that revelation comes with a great deal of experience to know when to stop for a moment before you jump into anything.
I never looked at a challenge as anything that could not be accomplished if I put my heart and soul into the endeavor to achieve my goals.
I would impart to all that there is nothing that can’t be achieved if your mindset is committed for all the right reasons which is why I always have the confidence that I will be successful at anything I approach.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad successfully ran our NASDAQ listed company that lasted 115 years for more than 50 years. He was very conservative by nature, but never opposed to taking a shot at a new idea or concept. He taught me never to be afraid to try new things as no one has a crystal ball. We all fail at various things at some point in our lives, but to allow that to be a guiding force is damaging and detrimental to one’s psyche and ability to reach their goals.
