Meet Janet Neustedter | Functional Medicine Health Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janet Neustedter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janet, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am passionate about what I put in my body and making sure that it is great for me. As I learned going through my certification more and more about healthy vs non healthy foods, I knew I could help people get better and be healthy. Too many Americans are sick, overweight, unhappy and they don’t know why. I help people connect the dots
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Functional Medicine Health Coach. There are many health coaches out there – and I have met and talked with many – my particular niche is that I am a fantastic, healthy gourmet chef! I can cook anything. People with autoimmune disease are struggling with what to eat, and many have foods they do not eat. They tend to look at it from a deficit perspective: “I can’t eat (X) so meal prep is difficult for me.” I like to change that point of view to: “I get to eat (X,Y,Z,A,B,C) and now I feel better”. Autoimmune is definitely challenging, and with my background it is easy to navigate, as I am extremely well versed in all things food! Being in business for yourself is NOT easy. It is a constant, day to day balance. I keep sharing my message so that I can help people get better. My difference, compared to other coaches, is my depth of food knowledge. I also talk to the whole person, not just food. Lifestyle approach is important when looking at health: nutrition, exercise, stress, mindfulness and sleep all have an equal part in how we feel. When the wheel of all of those are in balance then we should be feeling pretty good!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Tucson, and love outdoors. I would put Mt. Lemmon, The Desert Museum and Sabino Canyon on the list for sure. A little bit further out Kartchners Caverns, Bisbee and Tubac are all awesome. If the friend is staying for a month we may take a weekend in Sedona! I also am a golfer so if my friend golfs for sure we are golfing. I belong to Skyline Country Club, the view from the deck is the best in the city. I like to dine at the local restaurants that have innovative menus: Raijin Ramen, Feast and Caffe Torino for sure!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
