Meet Jaraneh Nova

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaraneh Nova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaraneh, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent, exposing my child to all sorts of music and artistic expressions has been one of the most important things I have done as a parent. That, and modeling how I continue to pursue my artist dreams and visions throughout my life. This demonstrates how to be inventive and creative and flexible in all of life’s situations. And how to frame hardships as achievable challenges. For me, as a musician, I see how music shapes our children’s cognition and learning abilities in ways that far exceed music itself. I see this everyday in my music students with ages from 7 to 70! Music expands and integrates our body/heart/mind/spirit experience and opens doors to a more beauty filled life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a music teacher, I am always excited to help my students along their unique path of discovering their own musicianship and love of their instrument.
As a musician, I am excited for my upcoming music releases! I have crafted a very specific and high frequency sound over many decades into something I call Native Ambient Folk Rock. This fall I will be releasing my latest album: Emergence.
Professionally, I was blessed to have been chosen as a featured Vocalist on the hit show, “Outlander”. These songs gave me the opportunity to show my range as a vocalist. Several tracks featured my Authentic Native Vocals in a gutteral, emotive and storytelling capacity; while the last track from season 4, featured my true artistry as a trained vocalist and performer.
Along the way, I have learned to focus on what feels authentic to me, and to avoid following trends. I have gained confidence, wisdom and clarity along the way.
I want the world to know that my Brand and story, is for those who feel lost in this world. My music is a portal to nature, the sacred and the divine. My vocals and lyrics are human, wise, ancient and visionary. I am here to share beauty and peace through music, while holding space for a new and more beautiful world to come. A world where life is valued above money and corporations. A world where money, war and greed are no longer central to life on earth. And we return to living in balance, where Indigenous Wisdom, Purity and love lead the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Thats easy! We would hike Catalina State Park. Visit Madera Canyon and possibly Patagonia. We would check out the Dragoon mountains and Cochise Stronghold. If they are new to the desert, definitely, the Desert Museum!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me, Black Elk Speaks was a formative influence in my life. This book encouraged me to embrace my Native lineage and to craft my gifts in service of the whole creation, mother earth and all my relations.
