Meet Jason LaPierre | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason LaPierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, how do you think about risk?
I consider myself to be a risk taker enthusiast. If you’re not always taking risks and challenging yourself to enter new situations, which often times includes leaving old ones, then it’s hard to find new opportunities and grow. I fear missing opportunities that come from taking risks more than the risks themselves.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what separates my music apart from other peoples is that I strive for it to be a reflection of myself and nobody else could be me. I think everyone should strive to create music that truly reflects themselves and their journey through life rather than cultivate a sound that is an imitation of another person. I’m really excited to dig deeper into these thoughts, and I’m constantly thinking of how I’m feeling in the moment. I’m always working to get better, and challenges and struggles only push me harder. Some of the worst moments of my life have turned into the best because they forced me to reflect on what led to those situations, and change that for the future. I tend to “overthink” a lot, so lately I’ve been focusing on “overthinking” about the right things. Rather than dwelling upon what has gone wrong it’s so much more effective to put that energy into something more positive. I’m working really hard on bettering myself in every way, and I’m so excited to show the world all of the new music I have been working on!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend @melolofi came in town last week actually so I’ll just tell you what we did! We went to a local plant store, got lunch at a family run Mexican restaurant, made a new song from scratch, went on a walk to a river by my house, enjoyed some tea, and really put a lot of emphasis on rest that day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am hugely grateful for Suzie Collier. She has pushed me the most to take risks, believe in myself, and really pursue being an artist. She has been such an incredible mentor to me, and I can’t imagine life if I didn’t meet her. Our conversations constantly resonate in my day to day life, and have opened up my mind in truly incredible ways. Suzie is one of the most loving and caring people I have come across.
