We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Short answer is I wanted to give back. I was blessed by a good Samaritan and her changed my life. As I was ordained and called to be of service I wanted to do the same for someone else. I knew I could good cook food and would be able to speak from a place of understanding. I have been there and I wanted to help others get there lives back.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a chef for 30 plus years. I have worked in restaurants, hotels, and healthcare. I always had a strong work ethic and would never stop wanting to grow or get better at my job. I always want to feel confident in what I do or my knowledge of a task. I had to overcome a lack of confidence and fear of stepping out into the spotlight. This drove me to excellence but also deepened my addiction for some time. I never thought I had much to offer or never seen me able to lead people. I have been clean and sober for 25 years. and a Executive Chef for 23 years. I was ordained in 2015 and have truly seen my same fears and doubts comeback again. I have learned that as humans we never really stop working on our inner self. I believe we can not pour from an empty cup. Living life in balance and taking time for myself is key to my success and longevity. GOD is always doing a work but we have to be open to change and willing to be honest with ourselves.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a lover of the nature so we would start at the Grand Canyon then go to visit Sedona. Two of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I recognize that my success first and foremost is because of the grace of GOD. I also recognize my wonderful family. My amazing daughter Holly who inspired and lit a fire in me to change and heal my heart and my wife Tamara whos love has brought me a newfound joy for life.
