We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Roberson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmine, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Honestly, I was raised with discipline and order coming from a family of a military background. Balance has been a theme in my life growing up and continues to be something I would identify as progressive vs a destination. It is not in my DNA to give up so once I have my heart set on something, I crave it. I wont settle for less; I Manifest!

Over the past 2 years, the pandemic challenged me in various ways physiologically, financially, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, etc. This setback truly helped shape my character, thus, shifting both my focus and my faith.

Seeking balance is only the beginning of the process…maintaining it is the fun part! I have learned to just get creative because the world is changing every day so it’s up to me to stay caught up. Not only is adapting necessary, but walking by faith and being willing to accept things out of my control without sacrificing my peace is the true balance. Meditation, prayer, affirmations and staying proactive are some of my remedies for peace of mind and grounding myself to gain any sense of balance.

Post pandemic, I managed to find more opportunities in my passion and bring life to my vision as a creative. Elements such as writing, recording, dancing, tiktok and performing were all my outlets throughout the chaos and lockdowns. Today, my career is thriving and my resume is expanding as the result. I dont take it for granted and in fact, I have began to celebrate myself more lately because I didn’t always do so or know how before. There have been a lot of times that I’ve had to fake a smile in my darkest times, even times when I didn’t think I was going to make it, and honestly no one would know this unless they really pay attention or ask me about my story because I move alone a lot of the time in this walk with God. That is why surrounding myself with people who understand that I need solitude to find my muse and peace has been a blessing. I’ve grown to understand the importance of selective energy that I allow to impact my world and having a support system like family, friends, mentors & my dance community is everything I’ve ever needed.

That being said, I don’t want a pity party for my struggle and the pain I’ve endured. With wins comes some sacrifices, some losses that only the strong ones can handle. Sometimes strength is not always just physical but rather mental stability and a spiritual journey. I just want to live a life with no regrets and know that I put my best foot forward in every step taken to leave something of value behind to anyone I’ve ever influenced. There are a lot of people that look up to me, including my inner child. If it doesn’t add value, I don’t want it.

Advice I would pass on to the next person is just DO IT NOW! Set goals and stop at nothing, even when it gets tough, even if it’s not the outcome you hoped for because life is just a blueprint anyway. Having a plan is cool, but being prepared for anything is the real flex. Nothing goes as planned but everything happens in divine timing. The time is going to pass by anyway with or without your presence so create your own lane while you still can and enjoy the ride now!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
