We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Barnes Jana Dunow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff Barnes, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting our podcast was purely selfish. We love baseball and we love to talk about it. It would be great if we could make this our full time career and support ourselves, but we do for the love of the game.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our podcast is a labor of love. We have to schedule time to create it. It is not always easy. We both have jobs outside of podcasting so creating content can be a bit tricky. Jana lives in New Mexico and Jeff lives in California. Scheduling time is our biggest challenge, but we always make it work. It’s important to us. The podcast not only showcases our love of the game, but it also keeps us connected. Sibling Rivalry Baseball Podcast is a brother and sister sharing their love of baseball, but also sharing our sibling connection.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely a baseball game whether it’s Dodger Stadium or Isotopes Park. If it’s baseball, then we are there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our love of baseball all started in our childhood. Our maternal grandfather was a huge baseball fan and he thought us the ins and outs of the game. During the summer, we were always at the Little League fields running back and forth between games. Our mom was a huge influence on our love of the game. She loved baseball and the Dodgers. She taught us how to be fans. Baseball is in our DNA. It has always been a part of who we are.
