We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenn Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenn, what’s been your favorite thing to do during quarantine?
Not shooting has been so hard! Our spring wedding season got cancelled but the other week I saw a photo of one of my dear friends she had taken during a COVID maternity shoot. My heart just broke for all these women that are having to deal with all the uncertainty of the pandemic, and prepare to give birth with things so unknown! I knew in that moment I wanted to do some free “socially distant” session for moms-to -be. As a wedding photographer this is a bit out of my norm, but I was so excited to celebrate some moms during a very stressful time! So I chose three women and I met each one at different times in a field and took some photos of them during this special times in their life. This literally was LIFE GIVING TO ME! I genuinely walked away feeling like I had been given a gift, a reminder of what I love and to be able to truly come beside these mommas during a difficult time and celebrate life and love! It was beautiful and I loved getting to focus on the good in the world!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love wedding photography and how it connects me so intimately to a love story unfolding with so many unique chapters. I first get to be there as they celebrate their engagement and then watch as they commit their lives to one another at their wedding! Its so beautiful and I get to know their story through toasts at the reception, watching them interact with their bridal party and of course, get showered with love from their family. It is truly a coming together of friends and family that I get so excited to capture each and every time. What has been really fun lately is all of my couples are growing their family so each year I get to see a bunch of them during the fall when I shoot mini sessions for families. Its so fun to see my newly married couples get dogs and celebrate their little families, I see some of my other brides preggo for the first time and other couples having their 2nd and 3rd kid! Its been fun to watch the different seasons of my couples lives, from engaged to married to babies!

Jenn Wagner Studio is 10 years in the making! It took a lot of late nights, free shoots to get my name out there, and thousands of hour editing to get to where we are today! I worked a full time job for the first 4 years as well as hustling on the side to make this company a dream without going into debt. I made a vision to expand my company at year 6 and it took lots of training and finding the right people to make that dream a success. It took two years and then we landed on the right team. We worked through how our team model would work now 4 years later, I truly feel my team is our greatest asset and something unique we bring to the Phoenix market.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question! We would do a staycation at Montelucia, have sticky buns for brunch the next morning at El Chorro, lay by the pool and look at the beautiful Camelback mountain while we relaxed and then hit up the spa in the afternoon at Sanctuary close by because their spa is literally so incredible!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My three associates! I have the best team and we truly rely on each other for more than just a backup shooter. We encourage and are a part of each others lives and stories and its so amazing!
