We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Barnsley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The cornerstone of our Trademark Apparel business is outreach. Our slogan is “Premium apparel with a PURPOSE.” When someone purchases with us, they get the choice of what the donated profit helps to support. We want to provide people a modest way to wear what defines them, but also to be involved in the “cause” they choose. We keep our customers updated on our progress with the “cause” and hopefully make the giving more tangible for them.

In our first 14 months we have been able to –

*Remodel a halfway house for HOUSE OF REFUGE in Sunnyslope. This wonderful organization uses the house for 5 men who have recently graduated from their recovery program. The men are able to live there while finding jobs, getting reacclimated with life, and having fellowship with their peers and mentors.

*Help fund faith-based counselors for DEATH2LIFE. This organization uses its web platform and celebrity outreach to reach, teach, and guide suicidal individuals with the message of love and Jesus. They’re success stories and statistics are amazing. They truly are saving lives each and every day.

*Help fund the Pathfinder Program for CHRISTIAN FAMILY CARE (CFC) in Arizona. This organization is a leader in the space of foster care and adoption in AZ. The program we support uses leaders from the AZ Community to partner up with foster care children in group homes who share an interest in what the leader excels in. One example would be our Trademark University Athlete – Gabe McGlothan (GCU Basketball) who took an evening to spend with 4 siblings from a group home in Chandler. He was able to have dinner with them, show them the private practice facility at GCU, the main court, and play basketball with them throughout the night. He was able to build a relationship with these kids by relating to them about his struggles while growing up, and how faith and hard work allowed him to reach where he’s at today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
TRADEMARK Apparel is a small team of individuals who have other careers. There is no profit or salary being taken from the business as we disperse proceeds to our current “causes”, and reinvest in new apparel and design. We want to be a blessing to others and their communities as we continue to grow. People deserve to wear what defines them and rep a modest brand that aligns with their beliefs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are big Arizona Sports fans, so starting with a DBACKS or SUNS game on a Friday Evening then hanging out downtown at The Kettle Black Pub for drinks and food. Hiking and outdoor activity is always fun to do in Arizona, so hiking Pinnacle Peak or playing Grayhawk Golf Course would fill up Saturday Morning. In the evening we love hanging out at one of our favorite restaurants Isabella’s in North Scottsdale, the food, service, and drinks are always on point. Sunday church service at Illuminate Community Church would end the weekend on a high note.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Illuminate Community Church for helping to push us outside our comfort zone and pursue a deeper purpose.
