We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
After years of building and creating with fellow artists, I believe artistic career paths choose us. There is this innate drive within that won’t quiet down until expressed. We can try to pigeonhole ourselves into a version of what success may look like to others, but ultimately the voice of our souls continues to describe the vision of what we need to create. It’s a gift. Sometimes it feels like a curse when you’re up creating late into the night or you are woken up at 3 am by the voice telling you to get out of bed and go make this! I’m fortunate in that my creative endeavor has blossomed into a successful business. Every day I celebrate in gratitude. I am able to live a life I love and create products to share my passion for skin care rooted in plant power. At the end of the day, it comes down to passion. How loud is that internal voice? How much do you believe in what you are doing? How badly do you want it?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aster Earth is a brand born of necessity and a mother’s love. My daughter’s eczema, nearly a decade ago, was the inspiration to turn products made exclusively for her sensitive skin into a brand, a lifestyle rooted in the power of natural plant products. We don’t use artificial anything…because…Why do that? There are abundant solutions in nature for all of our needs. People and plants have a close-knit relationship all the way through history. We may have strayed from that at times, but it remains in our lineage. The body thrives on plant inspiration and so does Aster Earth. We’re excited to share our plant passion with you and to love on your skin in the most pure, happy way. Recently, a friend brought it to my attention that I am where I am because of calculated decisions to create success. Honestly, when I reflect upon it, I see that I followed my heart and the desire to help others. I didn’t set out to be a huge corporate skin care company and I still would never want to loose the human element within Aster Earth. We love to help others and that looks different depending on who it is we are helping. For some of you, its a bar of soap and a lotion that has finally alleviated rashy, dry skin. For others, it has been developing an entire line of skin care formulas for their own brands. And for others still, it has been just listening and offering any insight we can about this industry. So I guess it was a calculated decision, a decision to impact as many lives as possible in a beautiful. blessed way. The rest just worked itself out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have deep, sincere gratitude for so many along the way! My mama supported all of my dreams along this wild ride called life and never once met me with judgement and discouragement. She taught me how to be an empowered feminine force and to tenaciously follow my dreams. My many co-collaborators and business friends who inspire me every day to do better. We have this amazing network of creative, professional minds to discuss everything from pricing and marketing to recipes and sunsets. These people are not only my business contacts, they are my friends. We support each other with every step, discussing issues, finding solutions and celebrating the WINS! I’m so honored to know and build with each and every one of you. Finally, and most importantly, my sweet children who are the root of my motivation to be my best and give my all every.single.day.
