We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonny O’Brien and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonny, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Voyage Pro is my brand, it’s a Phoenix Video Production company. We always strive to make top quality video content. The most important factor behind my success would be focus. I think everybody needs to have a goal and vision of what they want to achieve and it’s important for them to stay focused on it. It’s crucial not to stop working toward what that is. With that being said, correcting yourself toward the goal is also an important factor.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We create top quality videos for businesses, events, entity’s, personal, etc. Our mission is to create amazing content that will help you grow your brand for an affordable price. Our team of friendly media experts is determined to generate you results. Whats sets us apart from other production companies is our affordability and customized experience depending on your project. I’m most proud of the amount of people we have helped through our videos. We are excited about the potential amount of people and brands we can help in the future and have yet to collaborate with.
I was introduced to the creative industry when I was in second grade, my friends and I would make PowerPoints focusing on business. For example my dad worked at a really cool amusement park in Minnesota. We made one showcasing that and I thought it was so cool. I started to learn more about computers and how they could be used in the creative industry. I started volunteering at my church which happened to be the most popular averaging about 1k people attending service. I would set up the stage equipment for plays and live service including mics, lights and soundcheck. As a 12 y.o my position was a “Technical Arts Specialist”. I learned a lot about the technical arts side of things. I officially got hired as an 8th grader and continued to work there another 4 years. In college I then got involved with the ASU Film program and extra circular activities. Through that I met a ton of people out here.
This has evolved into an LLC that now holds over 30 team members ready to help anyone and everyone in the greater Phoenix area with getting their next video created!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like mill avenue. I think there are some really cool spots there as well as downtown tempe in general. Tempe is my favorite city in the valley. Outside of tempe would be Old Town Scottsdale.
I would eat at pier 54, get drinks at CASA on Mill, visit Papago Park in Tempe Town Lake.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people that I owe my success and company success to. For starters, our staff at Voyage Pro have been so hardworking and dedicated. Without them we would not be able to scale at all and take on the amount of projects that we have. Behind every project is a team, it takes more than one person to create top quality videos. Secondly, our clients. As we scaled each client is taking a risk by spending thousands of dollars on a project and they are trusting that we are going to deliver on our promise of creating a video that meets their goals and expectations. Someone in particular that I credit to my success is Sophia Lovasz, Director of the Sun Devil Marketplace. As a student at ASU I was working part time at the college apparel store. Sophia acknowledged my skill and potential based on my interest and major. She allowed me to transition my job working at the register to a job creating content for the store, which was not even a position that existed. Because of that, I was able to generate a professional database of a structure and proof of my work which was the spark that ignited the fire that Voyage Pro is today. Through that transition, I met so many people and colleagues that became my clients to this day.
