We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Unangst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was simple, how so? I had a burning passion of being an entrepreneur because I saw my parents build companies, seeing countless examples, and just loving the hard work of it. Plus, I loved sports and when I found that special connection of creating my own business and basketball it just felt like a match made in Heaven.

Because I am combining two things that I deeply care for together and now having this desire to pursue my dreams of creating my own business, predicated upon basketball, is the entire thought process of creating my own business and just being one-of-a-kind.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I do is give fans, who loves the game of basketball, a digital place where they are surrounded by no outside noise and just pure entertainment and news surrounding their favorite sport. CourtSideHeat is for fans that wants breaking-down analysis of the hottest topic of the week, that wants quick and concise news, that wants highlight videos, podcast episodes that are reliable and amazing to listen to, and all different sorts of things.

That is where CourtSideHeat is set apart from others. Look at the main companies that talk about basketball, sites that produce basketball content. It is no longer just about basketball but it is now getting political, it is becoming less basketball and news that nobody seems to care for as a fan of the game. CourtSideHeat doesn’t get political or try to get clickbait attention, we believe in just having basketball. We don’t get into what is happening off the court, we just focus on the hottest things trending in the basketball world. We come with exciting, always reliable, always fast pieces of news that goes from short-form to long-form articles detailing what is happening and then having those articles detailing and exploring questions no one dares to answer or even approach.

Now, the proudest thing that I have seen is how much we have grown and that we are covering more than the NBA. We are covering College Hoops and the WNBA; I am proud that CourtSideHeat is expanding more then just articles, but now having an incredible podcast, social media accounts reacting to the news that is breaking within the minute, and now I am excited to see what CourtSideHeat can become in the year 2022.

Finally, the number one thing I want the world to know about me and CourtSideHeat is that I’m just a guy passionate about basketball. That loved it so much that I want to make my full-time career being basketball, watching the game we all enjoy, writing about it constantly, tweeting about it, and talking about it on my podcast. I’m just a guy with a dream that is making it happen; with CourtSideHeat that dream is finally coming true as I want everyone that comes to the site to get the best of information, the best experience from CourtSideHeat that makes it even easier to get your news (and scores about an NBA game), as CourtSideHeat is here to become the leading basketball site when that time comes and for you guys to get all the news and action going down in the basketball here whenever you will like to see the latest thing happening and trending.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh I got the perfect itinerary for my best friend visiting the area, are you kidding? I am the scheduling person in my family’s household. Firstly, I would make sure they come check out to the Footprint Center and check out the Phoenix Suns play (because who wouldn’t want to watch the best team in the NBA play?) and get a feel of what it is like in The Valley for the Suns. Secondly, Phoenicia Grill in Gilbert would be a place I would take them. Highly recommend as that is one of my favorite places to eat at, if you like gyros then that is the place to go. Thirdly, I would take them out to Bartlett Lake to go boating, hiking, and just site-seeing. Fourthly, to taste extremely amazing pizza, we gotta eat at Brooklyn V’s. Now, number five, we have to have a rest-day. Unless they are Superman, there is no way they won’t need a rest day. So I guess you have to have a rest day in the schedule for the week. Number six, if the Globetrotters are in town then that is most definitely on the list. Lastly, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is an amazing place in Scottsdale to check out as I went there and it would be amazing to take friends and family to.

That would be my list if my best friend was visiting the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents. One-hundred percent my shoutout would go to my parents, why? Because from a young age, we are talking 10-years-old, I saw what my parents were doing. Seeing the end result and knowing how they got to the end result was very powerful and awe-inspiring to me as they put their head down and grind. My growing work ethic, trying to solve problems and figure out a new solution to anything, thinking critically and logically, having that desire to work until the job is finish, all of that (as the list can go on) is because of my parents.

My mother and my father are two of the hardest working human-beings in this world; didn’t take no shortcuts, no easy ways out, as they simply worked until the job was finished. I remember the trial and error they went through, the teachable lessons within that moment, as I am very fortunate to have parents that didn’t decide to work a 9-5 job and go with the flow but to go out, be bold, be courageous, and make the life they wanted to live and have.

From my first website until now with CourtSideHeat; they have continued to support me, to help me in areas that I needed help with, instilling good working habits into me, never letting me take the easy way out, and just making sure I understood what I was doing so that I wasn’t mindlessly doing things but having a purpose and a will to grind and put my head down to achieve what I wanted to achieve.

They always taught me that if you start something then you are going to finish it – no matter the circumstance or how tough it gets.
