We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are scary and at times very uncomfortable but when it comes to life/ career, I believe taking risks is very important to grow as a person and within your business.
Staying in a comfortable place will not help you progress in life. When taking risks there are obstacles and setbacks involved but as long as you have the right mindset and don’t let your failures defeat you, the growth will happen.
My biggest career risk happened after 12 years of building my career, we picked up and moved states. It was very uncomfortable and scary but I was determined to start what I always dreamed of – being an independent HAIR ARTIST! Being a business owner comes with a lot of risk-taking, failures, and learning that I know now. Hard work pays off and I wouldn’t be where I’m at now if it wasn’t for taking the risks. I love every moment of what I created and how far I’ve come.
This isn’t the end, there will be more risk-taking down the road and I am willing to face them all.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart as a hair artist is that I continue to learn and up my skill levels. Challenges drive my success.
I’m very proud of how far I’ve come in my career as an independent hairstylist. Starting from scratch in a new state has not been easy at all especially in such a saturated industry of talented artists.
I’ve learned to let go of things that don’t serve my personal/ career life and to keep moving forward.
I want the world to know that I am here to take care of your hair needs and to bring out the beauty and confidence in every single person I get to work on.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arizona has a lot to offer! When people visit me here I most like will be taking them up to Sedona for a hike. Scottsdale has the best entertainment life. The top places to eat at would be herb box or hash kitchen for breakfast or brunch. Catch us eating dinner at Coopers Hawk or Morton’s
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friend/mentor Juan Jose Herrera. He’s been an amazing support throughout my journey.
