We had the good fortune of connecting with Kailey McCann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kailey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In my high school years, I was an active Student Council member – planning homecoming events, prom, and more. That love and passion for events manifested itself into an RA position in my second and third years of college, where I planned social/academic/professional floor events for my residents. Not too long after I graduated, I landed a position at a luxury resort in Scottsdale as their Events Coordinator where I was involved in the early stages of the booking process up until the signing of the contract. I wanted to take every opportunity to grow that I could, so I shadowed as many weddings as I could, and even detailed two weddings (gathering all information and formatting it into a cohesive document – checklist as you will) and was present on wedding day to see it through. I also managed room blocks and small corporate meeting groups of 10-15 people.
During my time in that position, I had big goals of becoming a Weddings Event Manager – which handled the client from contract signing until after the wedding day. I also made it a goal of myself to accomplish this within 5 years of graduating college – so I eagerly took every opportunity to grow as it came my way. I eventually realized that I could take my current experience, and duplicate it by gaining experience outside of the workplace I was at, and that was when I created my Business – Bash Boulevard.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have held multiple roles at a few different luxury resorts in Scottsdale. I have also worked with a multitude of clientele, including social and corporate event clients.
As I have grown in my career, I have found that I am detail oriented, organized, and provide a high-level of customer service due to my past work experiences. I always strive for total customer satisfaction and go above and beyond to leave a lasting positive impression. The biggest lesson I’ve learned while owning my business is to give each task my 110% effort. If there is a challenging task, I make it known to the client and try to brainstorm with them a few different ways to approach the task. I’ve also learned that my business is only as good as the ship I run! This means that if we run a good ship, we can tackle anything that comes our way and we are prepared to the best of our ability.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to breakfast at First Watch or Butters, then do a little shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square. For lunch, I would bring them to North Italia or Olive & Ivy. Before going to dinner, I would take them to Desert Botanical Gardens or Papago Park to see some incredible flora and fauna. For dinner, I would suggest we go to Evo or Culinary Dropout. Then, my favorite course of the day, dessert – I would suggest we go to Crumbl or Cold Stone for some yummy treats.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom has been a huge supporter of Bash’s journey. She was also one of the main reasons why I started my business with the goals and mission that we have. I grew up assisting her with fundraising Gala’s – decorating, coordinating, etc. In all those years, I realized that she was not able to enjoy the event like everyone else was, and that is how our Mission was created: to allow the client to attend and enjoy the event as a guest.
Clients put in so many hours perfecting their event/celebration and for someone to take over in the driver’s seat – as a coordinator on the day of the event, the client will be relieved of stress, worry, and doubts about the guests having a good time and items being in their places.
