We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Cerami and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the community and the world around me. I provide a place where people can come to receive value in the pursuit of personal and professional growth. Although my business was started and created around art and creativity it has shifted into using art and creativity to portray a message to others and the world around me. The message is to empower and inspire others to explore and evolve to find their truth and purpose in life. Through my instagram and my blogs I have created a platform for anyone who seeks to travel, shift, and expand their mindset. The platform is used as a tool to help guide others as they go through their journey of self discovery and traveling with intention.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my business first as an artist (photographer) when I was a Vip Charter flight attendant traveling the world. At first I was just travel influencing online and sharing the places I was traveling too. When I realized that I could use my art to get across a message, it changed the course of my business. I shifted from focusing on myself to serving others. I took my art and I started breaking it down into the things I learned through the moments I was capturing in order to serve others. This led me to travel with an intention which further lead me to teaching others to do the same through both my captivating content and words of wisdom.  This has lead to my 1 on 1 coaching and mentoring programs and future masterminds and courses.

I would always ask myself, What can I take from here and give to others? What is the feeling/message for me here? How can I be the message from this place? This is what sets me apart from others, the fact that the focus is using my art to create a message that makes people think differently. To change the way they think and view life so they in turn can change the course of their own lives. You can’t change what people do, but if you can change the way they think they will change what they do. This is what sets me a part. I have a talent to change the way people think so they themselves can change their lives.

I am most proud and excited about launching future mastermind trip experiences and an online course that I’m putting out.  It’s an avenue for others to learn from someone who was once in that exact place. Im also proud of the results that my clients receive from doing 1 on 1 coaching with me, its humbling to see the growth in others. Im also proud of myself for how far I’ve come and how I always stay committed to the reason WHY I’m here.

I got to where I am today by trial and error and lots of failing. My coach is another reason I am where I am now, which is still no where near where I desire to be, I’m really only just getting started. Its one thing to know what you’re good at, but another to be able to figure out how you can implement what you’re good at and turn it into a business in order to create impact and change in the world. I had to keep reinventing myself and still am. It has not been easy nothing great ever is.

I overcome the challenges by being real with myself, my coach, giving myself grace and having patience. I’ve always told myself, if I do soemthing long enough and I always give it my all, eventually it has to workout. Persistence always preservers.

The lessons that I learned along the way is that if you really desire to change and impact the world, one of the most important things you can do, is to first change yourself and then to step out of suffering and into service. I learned to always put myself first because if I don’t I can’t truly help others in the ways that I desire to. I also learned that I have to fail in order to learn, failing isn’t falling. The more I grow myself the more I can help others grow. I starts with you and it starts with your WHY, why you’re here.

I want the world to know that my brand is based around my experiences. I created my brand Lost Layovers because there was a point in my life when I felt so lost and disconnected from myself, others and the direction of my life to the point that I didn’t want to live anymore. I never want anyone to have to feel like that, that lost and disconnected to the point that they feel like they don’t belong. I started writing blogs around how I navigated both the good and the bad things in my life through traveling the world and turning the photographs I took into words to impact others. The message was in the mess. This later lead to me to go through a coaching program to learn how to help and coach others, which lead to the 1:1 coaching programs that I offer now and the development of a course that I am now creating. It all ties together. You are most powerfully positioned to help the person you once were and thats what im doing with my brand. Travel is my vehicle that leads me to create art and wisdom that helps to create impact and change in the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a Week long trip it would really depend on where in the world I am at the time and whose visiting me.

I would take them to eat at some of the best local spots I can find through extensive research or take them to personal favorites if its a place ive been before.

Im not a big drinker but I enjoy taking people to local breweries to get a feel for local crafts. I also love showing people a good night out on the town and I am very very good at finding these places abroad.

During the visit hiking or the beach is a must.  I always seek to find the most magnificent landscapes.

A big part of what I do when I travel with others is,  I make them always set an intention for the trip, write down any aha moments during the trip and reflect on the trip when it’s over.

Its always important for me to have my guests connect with my friends and other locals. I really believe that it enhances the experience for others and gives a great look on life as a local.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my own personal life coach and mentor, Aidan O’Brian. This man is an individual that continues to amaze me, from the way he speaks to the value he provides and the knowledge he shares with the world. The way that he speaks and understands human behavior is in a way that I have never come across in another human in my life. He is truly special and his outlook on life is not only unmatched, but one of a kind. His course Ascension is something that really impacted and changed my life.

The book the Untethered Soul. This book changed how I view life and led me to sit in the seat of self and to relax and release. I’m able to now, not only observe my own life but, the life of others and the world around me. It allows me to observe the bigger picture of life at all times. It’s lead me to a place where I can feel peace in the silence and understand everything that is going on with myself, others and the world around me without having to speak.
