Meet Kevin Rosenberg | Owner/Lead Guide

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Rosenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In graduate school I started an outdoor adventure club and really enjoyed taking people out hiking, climbing, paddling, or sailing. I realized that there weren’t any great outfitters or guide services in NYC so I decided to start my own. This was at the height of the recession so I started a company named Gear To Go Outfitters as a street vendor in Brooklyn. Even at that humble level I offered sales, rentals, and guided adventures. Business quickly took off and within 8 years I had gone from $10,000 in revenue to just about $1,000,000. Unfortunately the retail side of things collapsed with the e-commerce boom so I sold the rental business (now based in Tempe) and took the guide service with me to form International Adventure Guides in 2019.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We focus on small groups, unique itineraries, and intimate local cultural experiences. Our specialty is helping folks push beyond their comfort zone to achieve a bucket-list experience. We currently offer adventures in Iceland, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Faroe Islands, and the USA. We are Veteran owned and give Veterans preference in hiring.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In terms of AZ it amazes me that so many visitors to our state never make it down to Southern Arizona. Hiking in the Catalinas, Rincons, or Chiricahuas is pretty epic and the small towns along they way have so much to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well first off I’d have to give a shoutout to all the staff and volunteers at both our State and National Parks. They really do tremendous work to protect the natural resources that make our state unique and educate visitors to make sure they are safe and responsible explorers.
